On Friday, June 28th, The Rt. Hon. Dr Vincent Cable, M.P. for Twickenham, opened the new practice facilities at Strawberry Hill Golf Club.

Also present at the opening were Councillor Meena Bond, the Mayor of Richmond, and Hannah Bladen from Sports England, whose ‘Inspired Facilities’ award enabled the upgrade. The award was from the 'Places People Play' programme delivered by Sport England in partnership with the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association and forms part of the legacy of the London 2012 games.

The practice facilities at Strawberry Hill now comprise an all-weather Huxley practice tee, leading to a grass area with a practice green and bunker, and a double-bay caged practice net. As an approved England Golf regional “Get into Golf” venue, SHGC has the ideal facilities for those wanting to learn the game.

Dr Cable said "I am most impressed with the excellent work that Strawberry Hill Golf Club is undertaking to promote golf in the local community. I'm delighted to open these splendid facilities on such a beautiful golf course".

The occasion was marked by a fun golf competition, drinks and a barbeque.
