Having stopped in a Holiday Inn before we knew what to expect. This particular hotel was ok although the room we had was very small and was tired. Staff reasonably friendly although receptionist did not ask if everything was ok with our stay which is usually asked when checking out. We did not book breakfast however, having seen the menu in the lift we decided to ask in the morning if we could purchase a sausage sandwich. This seemed to be a big ask. We were left stood there for a good 5 minutes whilst a member of staff decided to check if this was ok. He never returned. 2 more members of staff asked if they could help and we explained that we just wanted a sandwich which both replied that this shouldn't be a problem. Obviously it was and having been left there, we decided in the end to walk away and find breakfast elsewhere. I understand that we would have paid a cheaper price to the normal £12-13 that we would have had to pay if we had pre-booked. We just would have appreciated a yes or no instead of being left there. Other than this, the stay was ok but would choose alternative accommodation next time in Preston before we looked here again.

I wasn't looking for anything flash so booked in here. I would have probably tried somewhere else in hindsight. Booked in here as free wifi was advertised which is true but wifi DOESN'T work above the first floor.
Basically, the place is clean, tidy have polite staff and my only advice is .....if offering free wifi for all rooms at least make sure it works.

Stranded overnight by train disruption I booked in to this hotel. The hotel is approx. 15 mins walk from train station although there were plenty of cabs at station which may have been better idea. The hotel is a slightly older style of holiday inn in terms of décor but is clean and comfortable. Sleep quality was great as there are wooden shutter things inside room and no noise from outside at all gets in. Would definitely use again if overnight in Preston

Everything is alright here at the Holiday Inn. It is simple, no frills, just keeps you safe, warm, and comfortable at night. The thing that I definitely noticed is that it is extremely hard to reach the front desk when you are in your room. If you need to call a taxi, order room service, ask a question, when you press the button for the front desk, nobody answers. I guess they answer about 1/3 of the time, which is EXTREMELY dangerous if there is an emergency they must attend to.

Good standard of Room...service...and food.
Good bar area and friendly staff...slept well...triple glazing!
We had to leave at 6am and breakfast didn't start to 6.30am. We weren't offered anything which I suppose I expected but would have been nice to be offered something or maybe a discount?
Watch when turning off the roundabout....we missed the turning into the hotel and its a bit if a nightmare getting back as its one way. Not many car park spaces we got lucky this time...last spot!!

Good location, easy to get to from train station (about 4 pounds by cab) very friendly staff welcomed us to Preston and gave us very simple directions to the concert that we came to see (Bill Wyman).
Rooms were nice, clean and all that we needed at a very minimal cost.

Holiday Inn Preston, is located right next to the Preston bus station, which is right in the city centre. So the place wins on location. The continental breakfast served was good but not as great as the one served in Premiere Inn, including the premiere Inn in Preston city centre. Still highly recommended after Premiere Inn

Not the best check in! Room good, with tea/coffee, hair dryer, shower over bath, comfortable bed. Room service excellent (fantastic risotto). Leaving before breakfast started so continental offered for 6.15am, ready and waiting and receptionist & porter insisted on making me tea to take. Definitely stay here again.

Stayed here to break a journey - the hotel is situated on a major road junction, sat nav finds it OK (I normally bypass the town on the M6, so don't know the area).
The main problem here is the lack of car parking at the hotel itself, however, the receptionist very helpfully directed me to the bus station car park and the hotel has a £4.00 parking deal. NOTE : Single ladies will probably not relish using this "facility".
Otherwise, room was good, bar and restaurant staff pleasant and helpful, food good and 0530 checkout rapid and efficient.
Overall OK, but with this major parking caveat

We booked in to the Holiday Inn at Preston for 2 nights as we were attending a function in Preston and thought that we would also include a shopping trip.
The hotel was excellent. The double room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good value for money (£10).

we travelled over 300 miles as a relative has become seriously ill and Preston was half way. We have stayed here before and enjoyed the experience.
All we wanted was a friendly smile and something to eat. The room is lovely as before.
It took ages for reception to make contact she was on the phone but she had someone else in the office with her I heard them in conversation.
We went to the bar for a meal the menu was not appealing last time we had a tapas selection.
I chose garlic mushrooms and baby tomatoes on ciabatta,. It was swimming in oil and cold and the bread was not toasted I must have had all of 2 button mushrooms thinly sliced.
My husband had haddock and salmon fish cakes mostly tasting of haddock they looked vey pre packaged. He also ordered a side of chips these were rock hard and uncooked. He returned them and asked for a refund which he received. All in all a disaster and tomorrow we have another 300 plus miles to travel. Very sad as we so enjoyed our experience last time with friendly staff in the bar and lovely food.

Only stayed for a night but was nicely impressed by the look of our room, unfortunately (? :) ) we got a twin room instead of double but it was never guaranteed that we would get a double. With all the little touches it is a great place to stay and its also in a walking distance to the shopping areas and other nice places you might want to visit. :)

Excellent stay here even though we only stayed the one night. The young lady on reception was very professional and helpful on our arrival. A quick and friendly check in. The room was very clean and tidy, With the usual complimentary shampoo and soaps, plus free basic wifi.

We hadn't booked breakfast, but we were able to upgrade on arrival. The breakfast was amazing a huge choice of Danish pastries, croissants, juices, yogurts fruits, cereals, and of course the full English, self service and plenty of it. It was constantly being refilled with freshly cooked items.

All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We managed to park on site for free, this was a bonus, we were not expecting.

Location could not have been better for us as we were seeing Paul Weller that evening at the Guildhall so only five minutes walk to the venue
We Would definitely go back.
For saying this is on a busy main road there is no traffic noise at all. We loved the wooden shutters in place of curtains, as really blocked all light out for a great nights sleep.
The only thing I would say in a negative way is there was only enough tea and coffee for one drink each, as we are big tea drinkers we would have liked a few more, but I'm sure if we had asked we could have been supplied with some more.
All in all excellent service.
Thank you

A quick and friendly check in. The room was clean and tidy, with additional touches e.g. Pillow choice, complimentary shampoo and soaps, plus free basic wifi.

We booked a special offer night which included breakfast. The breakfast was lovely, a choice of croissants, juices cereals, and of course the full English, of which the sausage and bacon were fantastic.

All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We managed to park on site for free, this was a bonus, we were not expecting.

Location could not have been better, only five minutes walk to the Guild Hall and the Town Center. Would definitely go back

Stayed here for one night in June and it was a pleasant, good value stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable and there was a free car park. The location was also pretty good in central Preston,
We are visiting Preston in November and will probably stay here again.

We decided to spend a night in Preston as we had not visited this city before and thought we would also use it as a stop off place to visit Blackpool and Southport. From that point of view it met our needs. The hotel is one of the first places you will see if you arrive on the A6 from the south if you are driving. As you approach the large roundabout take the turn off for the bus station but keep to the left for the hotel car park or you will go up the ramp into the car park. There is complimentary parking costing £4 at this car park but you must pay at reception in the hotel first to get the 24hr discount. The reception is on the first floor and not the ground floor. If you arrive by bus then the bus station is next door if you arrive by train it's about a 20-30 min walk across the city centre. Our room was on the 7th floor but I could still hear the traffic outside as I am a light sleeper. Our bed seemed on the hard side and so that also did not aid a great nights sleep. Use this hotel for a stopover but if you visit Preston the walk is not pleasant to the eye passing run down areas of the city and you have to cross the road to keep on a pathway. Good value.

Can't complain for a one night stop. Rooms fine and clean, bar OK. Everywhere looked quite modern and clean so really can't complain.

Was a busy morning on the Sunday so could have done with a few more staff floating around, however that said would come again.

Only downside is the utterly inadequate car park for this size of hotel!!!

we stayed here for one night, during our trip to Lake District. On the whole very pleased with the hotel. great location and staff are fantastic.
Breakfast is great too - full English and well cooked with a good spread.
only slight drawback is the lack of parking, mainly due to the central location. We can easily park at the massive secure car park just across the hotel for a reasonable £4.00 per 24 hour period. But I feel there were a lot of cars that were not hotel guest and I reckon this can be better enforced so as to be fair to hotel guests, hence the 4 stars.
Room wise the usual high standard of a Holiday inn was prevalent. Nothing to complain about but was very good.
Would happily stay here again and would highly recommend it if you're looking for a hotel in Preston.

Stayed here for two nights, wanted to be near Blackpool but not in Blackpool if you know what I mean... The hotel has 3 stars, is quite modern in the centre of Preston - sadly with a car park far too small for the number of visitors at the hotel. Both nights I had to park across the road in the rather run down bus station car park at a cost of £4 per 24 hours.

The staff were warm and friendly, the rooms were a bit small - but clean and fresh. I enquired about breakfast and they have a great offer (I guess only at weekends) £10 per room - at first I presumed this was per person, but per room it provides good value.

The breakfast staff and supervisor was really friendly and they were always replacing food as things ran out. There was free wifi at the hotel, but it was rather slow - if you want the high speed wifi then it costs extra. Managed to get a good 3G signal in Preston so wasn't really bothered.

I would certainly return at the right price, I usually prefer staying in Lancaster due to their health club and facilities but the proximity to Blackpool was quite good.

On my way to Blackpool and needed a reasonably priced stop over. This hotel fits the bill although a late arrival meant I was relegated to the overfill NCP car park across the road. Bit of a trek as you also had to display a ticket provided by the hotel. That aside, the room was clean and tidy as you would expect of holiday inn. Breakfast was better than the usual HI std.

I'll start this with the plus points: It's centrally located, and it's cheap.
However, the reception is on the 1st floor - which is frankly weird. You can't use the lift from the ground floor, you have to go up the stairs to the 1st floor reception in order to use the lift. We were baffled as to why any hotel would have the reception on the first floor and no-one to greet guests as they arrive into an empty lobby!
Parking is atrocious. Tiny car park, no room and people constantly circling like sharks for spaces. When the car park is full, you have to park in the bus station car park (which, in all the years I lived in Preston, was always an appalling place and still is) and pay £4 per day for the privilege. I used a hire car, and was not keen on leaving a vehicle I wasn't responsible for in a dark and dingy car park overnight, so my daughter stood in a parking space for me when one came available and fended people off while I moved the car!
Due to our schedule, we had to take breakfast in our room. To say it was a rip-off is an understatement. We ordered toast for 2 and yoghurt with fruit. £2.50 for toast, £3.50 for fruit and yoghurt - we were expecting some kind of fruit salad, but it consisted of a pre-bought (sugar laden) probiotic yoghurt, a banana and an apple! For £3.50. The toast was cold and soggy, we weren't provided with enough cutlery or plates, and our tray remained outside our room for the entire day and was still there in the evening when we returned to the room. The following day, with a similar schedule, we only ordered the toast. This time, we were charged £8 (£3 of which was a 'tray' charge) and no plates were provided.
In this day an age, it's also shocking that there is no wi-fi available - either free or paid for. There is high-speed internet via a cable connection, but if you don't have a PC with you (we didn't, I prefer to use a tablet or my phone) that doesn't really help. When I'm on holiday in Turkey, every cafe, restaurant, hotel and bar has free wi-fi available, and yet you can't get that in a hotel in the UK.
I wouldn't say the hotel was bad - it was acceptable for the price - but I wouldn't stay there again because of the parking issues, the appallingly expensive room service and the lack of wi-fi. I shall continue my quest for a single decent hotel in Preston!

stayed here for one night on the way to isle of man with coach trip. unlike the previous gentleman who complained about the food for coach passengers we found that our meal was very good although we had a half hour wait for our starters and quite enough. the staff were very friendly and helpful. yes the drinks are expensive so go out for a drink. the room was clean and comfortable so we were quite satisfied with our overnight stay..

Having come from an excellent HI, I was brought back down a bit. HI Preston, obviousely has had some upgrade, but reception is tired with worn out carpets. Initially reception lady was not the beaming greeting, but she did improve as booking in continued. My later return for Internet sort out was greeted with a smiley bubbles sorting out sort of girl!
Room was comfortable, clean, with the normal corporate look, adequate for the 1 night stay, bathroom clean but in need of a makeover as paintwork and flooring looking tired.
Resturant, mm not that good, I asked if the veg selection was frozen, No, it clearly was a selection of frozen veg! Thai chicken salad came, not sure where the salad was, but give then their due they took it away and returned it with what I was expecting to see the 1st time, and no charge, which is not what I was particularly looking for, but I am sure my company will be pleased at the reduced food bill!!
Can't comment on breakfast as writing this the evening before. Would I stay again, possibly, it would be good to see all the HI chain coming up to the decor and modern standard of last nights hotel, HI at scotch corner!
