Why We're Getting Excited at The Black Horse Foxton
27th October 2021

So, I managed to catch up with Claire again at The Black Horse, Foxton and grabbed the chance to get an update on their plans at the pub for Christmas.

This is what she said:

I don't know about you, but I LOVE this time of year! In fact I get a real buzz just thinking about dressing up the pub for Halloween, bonfire night and then of course it's all about getting ready for my favourite time of year - Christmas and then welcoming in the new year!

Fortunately, I never need any encouragement to 'get in the festive spirit' - I've always loved Christmas time and this year (fingers crossed) in particular it promises to be extra special. How exciting it will be after last year, to meet up with our lovely customers, our friends and family again, to give them a hug and join in singing some carols around the village and the Christmas tree again. Now I might not have the best singing voice, but you can be assured this landlady will be giving it some welly at the back if given the chance!

As mentioned in my last blog post in early September, it was a pretty lousy start to the year for everyone, but for all the frustrations of the lockdowns, we at least had some time to make some positive changes. It also gave us the opportunity to offer our services of take away food and deliveries to the local community during a particularly difficult time, a time I hope we can all put behind us and not have to endure again.

But with your help and our wonderful staff, the pub has recovered well - we were super busy throughout the summer months even with all the covid safety measures in place, the weather was mostly kind and people loved our new canopy covered outside terrace. We are so grateful to have come through it all.

Everyone at the pub and tearoom has worked really hard and Daniel and I are now looking forward to a well earned break for a few days in November before the real partying begins. The pub will be open as usual with all our food, takeaway and drink services, but we may have to temporarily close the Tea room and suspend the delivery service, just while we're away. (We'll give an update on our facebook page nearer the time to confirm this).

But before that, we have November 5th and great LIVE MUSIC provided by KISMET ROCK PARTY BAND.

As their name suggests, it's going to be a party night and being such a talented and versatile band, they're going to play your kind of music! There may not be too many fireworks, but you can be assured the night will go off with a bang, so get out your dancing shoes and please come and join us.

Our Christmas Party is on 18th December and you are all invited! We've got the hugely talented 'SONIC VULTURES' band returning by popular demand to entertain us with their 'live music'. No need to book - just turn up in your best (or worst) Christmas jumper and have a great time!

Please note, we'll be closing Christmas Day this year ('cause we won't be able to get Daniel out of bed), but we're OPEN ON CHRISTMAS EVE as usual and on New Years Eve when we'll all be KARAOKE-ing helping you exercise your vocal chords! (that's if you can get me away from the mike!) So please come along and join in our fun!

We're so looking forward to welcoming you back at The Black Horse, Foxton!
