At Langton Greenhouse & Garden Centre, we love the re-wild mood that Greta Thunberg has inspired. However, we know that re-wilding is more than just a trend. Any plant lovers out there will know that the re-introduction of plants that pollinators love is crucial to improve wildlife networks and increase biodiversity. It is also crucial to encourage pollinators to flourish.

Insects feed on nectar from pollen laden wild plants, while pollinating them in return. The plants that our pollinators love, tend to be the open flower variety, such as daisies, echinaceas, rudbeckias and salvias, but they do also include verbenas and lavenders.

Re-wilding really means stopping over-nurturing our gardens. Instead of mowing the lawn weekly, why not leave it to grow a bit longer. You could even go crazy, and leave an area un cut. Watch what develops, you will soon see insects abound.

At Langtons we stock a range of bee friendly plants, we even have some more rare and unusual plants such as a new Verbena which has a darker stem than the standard version, a fabulous Tobacco Plant, which is night scented and a great range of Echinaceas for the herbalists out there. Alongside our bee friendly plants we also currently stock bee laden homewares, peat free compost and environmentally friendly products, such as feeds, wool based slug pellets (slugs don't like the feeling of wool on their feet!), as well as organic patio cleaner.

We also have one of the best house plant ranges in the area. Our in-house garden expert Cory, has scoured the jungles for unusual and vibrant plants which will fill your interior spaces with a wild and diverse range of interesting house mates. They range from easy to grow succulents, to the exotic and hard to find species, such as Stag’s Head Fern, Elephants Ears and the Caladium. All of our house plants are competitively priced and are also supplied alongside pots, plant foods and advice from our friendly team.

Why not call in and 'catch the jungle vibe' in our houseplant area, or take a coffee which is roasted especially for us in our award winning Greenhouse Café?  We have a fashion sale running for the next few weeks, which is full of floaty dresses, breezy tops and cool trousers. Call in soon before it sails out!
