Stayed overnight here as part of a cycling weekend in a group of 4 in early November. This place is perfect! I was in a twin room - warm, comfy, excellent shower, plus tea, coffee, and biscuits all in the room (much appreciated). Good wardrobe hanging space too, which helped.

After our cycle tour, we then spent the evening in the pub. Amazingly good food, really something else. Good choice of beers. And the atmosphere was enjoyable too.

Breakfast the following morning was absolutely top rate. Perfect!

we thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu, the food was adventurous, seasonal, well cooked and beautifully presented. The service was excellent, the overall experience was very good and outstanding value for money. This chef deserves to be successful with his new venture. However is does need to sort out unruly diners - our experience was marred by an extremely noisy and rude group of 4 who seemed to be oblivious to the fact their behaviour was ruining the evening for the rest of the diners.

We were a party of four, and enjoyed an enjoyable Sunday lunch at "The George".
We were made very welcome.
The service was good, and the food was excellent especially the sea bass!
The chef, who has gained a lot of experience as a chef in very good restaurants, came to our table to ask our opinion of the food, which we appreciated.
We wish this pub every success.

Had a lovely drink at the George, a nice little pub. We didn't have food, but what was cooking smelled really nice. The "garden" is actually a parking lot with tables, but it is still a nice place for an outdoor drink.

I’ve eaten at The George twice in the last 2 weeks, and really enjoyed the December menu. The restaurant is small but well set out, no room for a Christmas tree there but a very attractive decorated tree in the foyer welcomes guests at the side door.
Some 20 friends and I attended a Gourmet Tasting Evening with Wine Flight. Food was out of this world: canapés welcomed us in the bar, we were then called to our seats for our meal: celeriac/pear and blue cheese soup; warm pea and tomato tart; halibut with sea lettuce and mussels (particularly scrumptious); perfectly cooked venison steak with butternut squash, followed by dark chocolate tart with tangerine and finished with a choice of tea or coffee. Absolutely delicious . . . Excellent food, well matched wines all conscientiously served. A few days later I went with back with 2 friends to try the Traditional Turkey dish . . . Also excellent: no skinny slices laid over a soggy roast potato here (the poor offer at another local pub/restaurant!) but tender portions of turkey, perfectly cooked sprouts (my favourite veggies!) roast potato’s . . . . Really good food, friendly service and great athmosphere. We all had a great time on each occasion.

Not big fan of Pubs or Pub accommodation and food, I reluctantly booked this as all other accommodation in the area that looked reasonable, was full.
So I was a bit reticent ar first.
However the room (twin) was pleasant, warm and comfortable, nothing that would set the world on fire, but certainly nice, situated in the coach house at the rear. There is no parking on site, but the village is so quiet and peaceful, parking was not an issue, and sleep, lovely, barely a sound from outside. However what made this such a lovely place to stay, was the big surprise, the food. I normally hate pub food, as you never know what you are going to get by way of standard, processed or expensive. This food was excellent chef/home cooked by the Landlord, (both the evening meal and breakfast) and I think very reasonably priced. Certainly worth the visit just for a meal if your local. The Menu is straightforward, rather than extensive, but this allows the meals to be freshly cooked to order. GLUTEN FREE diets are well catered for. I am likely to return. The hosts made sure personally that both your food and yourselves were ok. This also has a lovely "local" feel. Not being a beer drinker, I cannot comment on the alcoholic beverages.

We checked into The George for two nights to explore the architecture of Northamptonshire, a flyover county which deserves to be far, far better known. It is gorgeous — the villages are stunning and the towns are hideous. So avoid the towns. We brought our Golden Retriever with us and Crunchie the pub Staffy welcomed him like an old friend. We had a decent evening meal which they badly let down for us by taking an hour between finishing the starters and the arrival of the main course. Normally I would mark down heavily for this but the owners were so charming and made such a good breakfast (no mustard though) that I couldn't bear to hurt them. Pity they didn't do dinner on Sunday because I'm sure they'd have done better.

Stayed for one night and couldn't thank the hosts enough (didn't get names) they were very accommodating and friendly. The Room was simple but cosy with nice gestures like tea, coffee and biscuits and toiletries in the ensuite. I slept all night in a nice comfortable bed (which is unusual for me been away from home)
Breakfast was one of the best I've had and cooked to perfection and the presentation was spot on with a very nice cup of coffee to go with it.

Had never been to this area before but a great find. Decided on impulse to have a night away and thought the George sounded more interesting than large faceless hotels. The weather on arrival was not good, pouring with rain after weeks of great weather. Because of this we stayed in for dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed and soon got into conversation with a lovely couple on the next table, also Chris and Carol joined in with the banter after they had finished working. After a good nights sleep (the room and bed was very comfortable) we enjoyed an excellent breakfast then had a walk around the village. Ashley is a charming village with lots of lovely buildings and pretty gardens. We would love to return sometime, we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend.

We stayed here over a weekend as we were visiting the VBOA National Rally in Market Harborough. When we arrived we were greeted by the very friendly owners Chris and Carole. We also met the resident Staffie called Crunchie.
We were shown to The Langton suite. It was a beautiful room. Very well finished, and with everything you would need. We ate there that night too. Whilst the menu is short, the food is of a very high standard. Our breakfasts were also great, with plenty of other stuff on offer plus the Full English of course. The hosts, Chris and Carole are great. You are always made to feel very welcome, it makes the place feel like a home from home. Also worthy of special mention is the beautiful Crunchie. She is a really calm, friendly Staffordshire Bull Terrier, a real credit to both the breed and the owners! It was really nice to be greeted first thing in the morning (and at other times) by this wonderful dog.
Overall, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I wish it was closer, as we would definitely visit more often. Hoping to stay next year for the VBOA car show.

Both the evening meal and the cooked break were excellent! It might be a slightly limited menu but what the chef does he does very well!!

We called in for a drink as we had not been since 2014. Like the new colour scheme which makes the pub seem larger . Friendly staff and good ale - think it was Phipps Red Star . The best part was meeting Crunchie , the pub dog . Calm and friendly she greeted allcomers and is a great ambassador for the breed . More pubs should have a dog - increasingly rare these days . Owners will move her for customers who aren't dog lovers . We look forward to trying the food which looks good

We have just had an amazing stay in this wonderful pub , Chris and Carol have done a marvellous job making this a place you must visit. The welcome is warming the food fantastic and a good selection of beers and wines are there to be tasted. If you pass this place without going in and experiencing the above you will regret it .Mike b from Cardiff

A nice welcome from Carol and Chris.
Small menu that always pleases me because it usually means the food is well cooked and seasonal products are used. We weren't disappointed.
My daughter had the pea panacotta as a starter, she said it was the best starter she had had in ages. I had the crab, avocado and pink grapefruit also very nice.
The bavette steak and chips was one of our mains, a tasty steak however would have looked better on the plate with a small side salad. I had the Loch Duart salmon, cooked to perfection.
By this stage was rather full but had to try the cherry clafoutis, it was good. All reasonably priced.
The menu is going to change monthly which is great. Will definitely be going back.

Just called in lost "on business trip " and came across this pub. Amazing bavette steak on onion marmalade with home made chips ! Awesome food and a first for me having this cut of beef. New owners so support the trade and also great position for the pub.

We stayed in the family room with our two kids for a christening last weekend. It was a superb room, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful and we had everything from croissants with homemade cherry and chocolate jam, to a full English! Our hosts were so kind and we loved their dog Crunchie who oversaw everything. Thank you, we can't wait to come and stay again!

I stayed with my wife for a night when at a Ball. Chris and Carol were very welcoming. The room was fantastic and to a standard you would expect at a fine hotel. Breakfast was beautiful and cooked to order. Will stay again even though home is very close.

We stayed here when attending a Ball at the Barn.

The hosts, Chris and Carole gave us a really warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them.

The room was excellent as was the quality of the breakfast.

Highly recommend "The George"
