It's spacious, there is always a wide range of ideas, some expensive and some in the sale. The quality is great. Of course, being in Lichfield, a place we love to visit, that adds value. The service is fantastic and I have been to the shop for years. Each time I have left the shop with something!

My wife and I found the shop staff to be knowledgeable, approachable, friendly and helpful; however...
We bought some Kuhn & Rikon oven-gloves during a recent visit. 6 weeks later, after their first wash, the stitching around the silicone insulation (where it attached to the cotton body of the glove) started to come apart.
Not a massive problem - manufacturing issues occur from time-to-time, even with the best products - however, the telephone support I subsequently received was somewhat 'lacking':-
After explaining we lived some 35 miles away, I enquired about returning them by post to be met with - after almost 3 minutes of being on-hold - "You can but there is no guarantee we'll agree to replace them and you will be responsible for all postage costs"!
Hardly endearing; hardly customer-centric service; hardly recognising the fact that they wer 6-weeks old and it was hardly MY fault they'd failed so soon.
So, I tried an alternative approach in order to remedy any concerns / cost issues about returning a product which they might wash their hands of (and something which has worked for Pelikan Pens, Sainsbury's, Debenhams and Meier/Analon in the past): "Howsabout I send you an eMail with some photos first?"
"Let me just put you on hold again". (Yawn).
Ninety seconds-or-so later and Simon came on the phone to all-but-reiterate what the young woman had said, albeit slightly more empathetically.
I have to admit, I expected a little more from an independent retailer. As they can't always compete solely on price, I thought customer service was what they offered instead? Perhaps I missed the point where they presumed to help me ... as opposed to me working out how best to cut my losses and help myself.
Not impressed and not what I expected; as such I'll stick to researching (and buying) on-line in the future.
