We have visited the Garrick twice in the last fortnight, firstly to see the woman in black, which was very good, with the two actors doing a superb job, and the second time was to see the little shop of horrors - this was excellent, the cast were very good, an they rightly received a standing ovation at the end.

Went twice in a week (Woman in Black and Animal Farm) and really enjoyed the experience. Main theatre has good seating and seems to be air conditioned. Studio felt a bit cramped. Nearest free parking is the Bus Station.
For some bizzare reason they wont serve pints in the interval.

My title to this review quotes from 'The Woman In Black' which I saw this weekend at the Garrick Theatre in my home city of Lichfield. They have made a splendid Garrick out of what was the Civic Hall of many years ago in my youth!
Situated right slap bang in the middle of town, close to the busy shopping and restaurant areas, the Garrick Theatre is a lovely intimate venue with its own Green Room Cafe and Bars.
Staff are friendly, atmosphere is warm, all in all a lovely theatre with excellent facilities and a studio theatre to boot.
Only half an hour from Birmingham, Lichfield is a gorgeous Cathedral City and the Garrick Theatre is a perfect theatre experience.
Although Garrick was not born in Lichfield he spent a lot of time there, making it his second home and a theatre in his name is very apt, Dr. Samuel Johnson is the most famous son of the city.
Check out the city, the theatre and believe me, I enjoyed the Garrick so much I have booked for next weeks show 'Little Shop of Horrors'!!!

John Lodge, solo, at the Garrick, most of the moody blues band in tow. It was never going to end badly was it? And so.

The Garrick is a modern, municipal theatre / arts centre in the heart of Lichfield. Ample parking (free if you get there early enough). Bars and pubs local to venue. No heavy security, no strip searches, no London metropolitan BS, space at the bar, real beer less than £4.00 a pint.

The gig, absolutely first class. full credit to Lodge and his class band for treating Lichfield Garrick as if it were Madison Square Gardens. A full on, full tilt rock show with some of the greatest songs in the canon on show.

Comfy seats, fabulous view from row 3, great evening out, thank you Lichfield and good night!

First visit to the Garrick to see "Woman in Black"..the production itself was superb, minimal props and just two actors who told the story in the most dramatic, imaginative and believable way..amazing. The Garrick is a lovely little theatre, great facilities and friendly , helpful staff. Some seating on the pavement outside to sit and have a pre show drink on a warm night. Really lovely and we will look out for future shows.

Excellent performance by Counterfeit Stones, very lively, interactive and full of energy. They put on such a good show and kept us all entertained with their humour and musical ability. Lucky to have this venue in Lichfield !

Low cost and easy to get tickets. Free parking nearby and the pub nearby is good to. Went to see the "Counterfeit Stones" who were excellent. Only complaint is the seats up top are too narrow - your knees are touching the next chair and I am not tall. No room for dancing.

We went to see Joe Pascale, it was a good show. The theatre is a smaller theatre. I am less mobile and found getting in and about was easy, the staff was very helpfull, smart and above all, smiling

From the moment you enter for perhaps a snack and a pre show drink you are felt valued by the smiley friendly staff.
The well kept theatre is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. All in all a great little theatre that punches well above its weight for an evening at the theatre

This is a little gem right in the centre of the city ideally placed with easy access and parking within a few metres. Has facilities for eating and drinking. It is a compact little theatre with a very diverse programme of attractions throughout the year. Well worth booking a show if you are visiting the city.

Went to the Garrick Theatre for the second year running to see Barry Steele doing a fantastic tribute act of Roy Orbison. The Theatre got in touch with me at the last minute as I had left my name for a cancellation. The Theatre was packed and the performance was superb. I believe a tribute act needs to be extra special to avoid criticism, but Barry Steele lived up to every expectation and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Enjoyed a drink at the interval and the staff and service was excellent. I would recommend a visit to a superb Theatre.

From the time you enter the "Green Room" for pre theatre drinks until you leave the theatre, you will be feeling happy/sad/euphoric etc. depending on which of the wide variety of entertainment that is available, that you have seen.
There is something for everyone.... stage shows, old and new, amateur productions, various artists and many more.
Enjoy.

We went for the last day screening of The Hired Man, a Melvyn Bragg musical.

The cast were good, & projected their voices quite well without microphones.

Followed the jist of the whole story.

Not necessarily to my liking, with all the singing, but still good nonetheless.

The auditorium wasn’t full.

Staff friendly.

The main auditorium 2003.

My daughter & i went to see The Hired Man this evening ! What an unbelievable performance from EVERY single cast member ! It was so wonderful my daughter is actually going again tomorrow evening ! The singing voices from 'Emily ' & ' John ' are outstanding & we also attended the question & answer session after the show. Thank you all your help with seating arrangements & being accommodating with my daughter regarding the height of safety barriers too . All round a fabulous evening . Thank you to all. Tickets are easily booked by phone and ready for collection at the box office. The structure of the whole venue is interesting as each one of the four levels has its own facility, bar or dias. Amateur dramatists occupy several of these arenas to present ad lib performances before a show starts. Once inside, the theatre has retained a delightful circle, with six clear boxes and stalls below. Viewing from all is good and microphones are used discreetly. The performance was outstanding (The Hired Man) but the seats themselves are very cramped. I am short and found the seating restricting; how a much taller person would find them poses a big question. That said, a full range of refreshments are available before the performance and during the interval. Drinks could be taken into the auditorium. Very friendly and helpful staff, publications for future events all around although these could be more formally presented. Toilets were all clean and good. Access to all levels gained by lift and staircase. Seating for the disabled would be made available near the boxes. Car parking is free after 6pm in Lichfield and poses no problem at that time.

Standards and customer service are still slipping.
What training do the door stewards receive? Why do they not suggest that people with higher number seats, eg #23, #24, walk around the front of the auditorium to the far side rather than start at seat #1 and everyone has to get up to let them through? It isn't rocket science but as the stewards do not even look at tickets now ....
