Passed by the cathedral on a recent visit to Lichfield. The building is a fantastic sight and really is quite a remarkable structure. Didn’t go inside but if your in the area well worth a visit.

The cathedral is close to the city centre surrounded by pleasant grounds and good views. It cost £2pp to enter with faster entry if you pre booked which I did waiting for it to re-open at 1.30pm. The exterior has lots of statues and some gargoyles. Inside is plainer but well worth seeing with interesting memorial plaques and fabulous stained glass windows. Staffordshire regimental chapel is interesting too.

I visit the Cathedral often. I used to go to University in Lichfield and I do miss my frequent visits now I work away from home. The Cathedral is often quiet, and very accepting of anyone who wants to sit in a service. I often light a candle and sit in the chapel upstairs to gather my thoughts and for some peace and quiet. Although tourists can be annoying in this instance, most do not bother you. If you are looking for a family day out though, this is definitely a beautiful building to look around. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the Priest Father Tom is particularly lovely. Hope to visit again soon when I return home.

A huge thank you to all the team at Lichfield for the wonderful streaming of worship in these last months. I live in Edinburgh and my mum lives in Derby. We've had many special visits to Lichfield Cathedral over the last 25 years so it's a special place for us.

We haven't been able to see each other since Christmas and we can both honestly say that "meeting" at Lichfield during the lockdown and "going to" the 10.30 service together has been a lovely experience we've shared, and a highlight of our week. It’s also just felt so valuable that we’ve had this regular time spent together each week – and that has meant so much. Your services have felt like a bit of an anchor point among all the turbulence.

We now feel like we know all the staff and have become so fond of you all! We can’t wait for when we’ll be able to come to a ‘real life’ service together once I’m back in the Midlands.

With much gratitude, Joanna and Christine xxx

We really enjoyed our visit here. The scale of this beautiful building is something else. It's almost as big as Notra Dame in Paris. Quite incredible and certainly worth a visit

What an absolutely incredible building! From the moment we walked towards the cathedral we were in awe of the architecture! Such a stunning building with detail in the exterior that will take your breath away! The interior is also amazing! Lots of little exhibits on various topics with a little gift shop inside also if you wanted to pick up a souvenir! The kids get a little treasure hunt sort of thing when they enter and they must find different things in the Cathedral and tick them off as they go for a little prize at the end - such an easy and affordable way to keep the little ones entertained!!

Lichfield Cathedral with its unique three spires may not be as large or as ornate at other UK cathedrals, but walking along The Close the first views of the cathedral is impressive, even dark. The closer you get you realise how spectacular it is, especially the front facade with its enormous number of statues. It definitely has its own specific beautiful. Walk around the outside the rest is equally as good.
Inside is just as impressive. The structure, columns, arches, roof stonework and the beautiful stained-glass windows put it on a par with many other cathedrals. It may not have the grandeur of many but it has its own grandness. The memorials on the walls are very interesting especially the military memorials of the various Staffordshire Regiments and the impact of the various local residents and dignitaries.
Entrance to the cathedral was free, brilliant, donations were discretionary but when given they are very appreciative. The free guided tours taking about 45 mins, at various times during the day are well worth taking if you have the time. The guides, taking small groups, are so knowledgeable and informative and seem happy in their job.
Well worth the visit and fi in Lichfield should not be missed. We will go back.
