There are volunteers on hand to welcome you to the Cathedral. It was our second visit the previous trip was over thirty years ago. The facade is wonderfully decorated with statues of saints and monarchs. Inside is tranquil, there was a choir rehearsing for the evening service. We stayed for the evensong service. If military history is your area of interest then you will find a lot of information about the Staffordshire Regiment. They were preparing for and art exhibition due to start next week.
There is an excellent cafe on site, good range of snacks and main meals at reasonable prices. Shop and cafe are in external buildings on the close.

A beautiful building, the West Front of the cathedral is particularly impressive as it is decorated with 113 statues! It is also reputed to be the only medieval English cathedral with three spires.

If you like Cathedrals Lichfield is worth a visit. The staff were excellent and eager to help visitors with understanding the history and artefacts on display including replicas of the Staffordshire Hoard

A marvellous Cathedral which would take most of the day to visit properly. It must be one of the finest in the country.

What a beautiful space, with so much to see. But beware - there are no toilets on site and the nearest ones are very basic.

I have always loved this cathedral and it's three spires but feel that in the last few years it has become somewhat dated. They have done little over the years to offer more in the way of public interaction. On the plus side the history of the place speaks for itself and there is a very nice gift shop and tea room over the road.

What a wonderful building, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to sing with other members of the Voluntary Cathedral Choirs Association - and what a sound 100 people can make in such a place!
It is something to consider how many people over many generations have sung in this place. A truly historic building.
Unlike many cathedrals, you are not charged a fee for entry, but encouraged to make a donation, and there is a lot of history to enjoy.

Anyone interested in British history should visit this cathedral. A small bit of the Staffordshire Hoard is on display. Interesting civil war 'connection'

If you haven't been to Choral evensong in a cathedral then you haven't lived. This occasion the choir was over 100 strong!

We visited the cathedral on the day of the operatic performance as part of the Lichfield festival. It is a stunning cathedral, I love how decorative and colourful the cathedral is, the size of it, and I loved the poetry and art exhibitions that were held there.

Lichfield is a very interesting City with some out of the ordinary shops and Restaurants. The Cathedral with three spires (Ladies of the Vale) is well worth a visit set in a quiet close easily accessed from the City centre.

Our visit round the Cathedral and the close was very interesting seeing how history had developed around this small city in the centre of England, it was a great tour showing how the area has developed and interesting books and video, well worth a visit to this small city shops and main street only a few hundred yards away, several good hotels and a mixed array of food eateries you will enjoy a day out.

Occupying a commanding position to the north of the town centre, it imposes itself upon it's surroundings. Opposite a calming pond and a lovely green area, the cathedral beautifully compliments and complements its surroundings. The inside is also stunningly arrayed, with fantastic vaulted ceilings - one in stone, one in wood, and lovely side chapels. It is well worth a visit.

I am in total awe of this build. Absolutely amazing to think that they didn't have the equipment to build a structure like this in them days, like the do now. Will definitely visit again.

An excellent trip / climb up the Tower, luckily we had a very clear day so could see for miles. Also very good guides - Margaret and Leslie, thank you. It took about 1 1/2 hours.

Just been for third visit. Still think this is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the land from the exterior carvings that festoon the walls to the stunning and recently restored main stained glass windows. Frankly no word descriptions would do this lovely building justice. There are bigger and more famous, but please if you are in the area do make a detour and soak up the sheer perfection of this lovely cathedral. Just a couple of minutes walk from Lichfield town centre, which in itself is pleasant (given many town centres look the same these days).

Free entry wonderful staff who know their stuff and a place to find peace if you need somewhere to think! They are under going some work but that did not spoil it! In fact they were doing sound checks and whoever the organist is they gave a wonderful performance of bits and pieces of music! Glad I went today! Gift shop and cafe across the road both reasonable prices!

An amazing building.

Friendly staff who are very knowledgable.

The cathedral is free to enter but you are asked for a donation. Once you have looked around you will have no hesitation but to donate. An inspiring building.
