Architecture is stunning, treasure travel items fascinating and a place of worship all combined. Easy access into and around and friendly welcoming staff who took time to meet and explain the Cathedral to my visitors

This cathedral dedicated to St Chad was begun in 1300 years ago and has been developed over the centuries into the splendure it is today. Do buy the guide book to help you around especially as there is no charge for entry , but donations are welcome. The guide ensures you see things you would otherwise miss. There is high quality glass, stone work and woodwork from every era but the high light has to be the Lichfield angel found when excavating to build a new altar. This stone carved angel from the 8c is in the chapter house along with a magnificent display of gold work from the Stafforshire hoard. There are also mediaeval wall paintings not damaged during the civil war. Will return again to enjoy more treasures.

Lichfield Cathedral is great to wander through soaking up the wonderful architecture and history of the times. From the mosaic floors to the wondrous arches, spires and stained glass windows there is something that inspires all of us. I would definitely recommend buying a guidebook before walking through the cathedral as the guidebooks provide both history and specific items to look for that you might miss otherwise. Whether you appreciate the religious aspect or the beautiful statues, windows, architecture etc., there is something for everyone to admire and hold in their memory. I definitely will go again if I have the opportunity.

Lichfield is a fantastic place to visit - it's easy to get to and park, there are very fine places to eat and to be entertained - the shopping is great too!

There is a lot of history associated with Lichfield, of course, but for me the jewel in the crown (and the place you do not want to miss seeing) is the magnificent Cathedral. Set in it's own Close, the Cathedral is a dramatic and imposing building, with a strength and serenity unique in my experience. Even outside, its grand façade draws your eyes to every facet of the architecture.

Day or night, it is a sensory pleasure for you eyes and is a very uplifting experience.

Inside the proportions of the Cathedral are immense, yet very intimate - you can be alone with your thoughts (and prayers) in every nook and cranny. It is a very special place indeed.

But, apart from the religious services, the Cathedral puts on regular Concerts throughout the year, by some of the top musicians in the world - hearing the musical best perform within this space, is a true thrill that everyone should experience - it is spine-tingling!

There is a very snug, but handy Cathedral Shop, close to the Main Entrance to get your tokens of your visit.

Lichfield Cathedral is a magnificent place for all sorts of personal/religious/tourist/concert-goer reasons - if you are visiting Lichfield, then the Cathedral should be the number one must-see - you will not be disappointed!!

Unfortunately when we visited, there was a service going on so we were unable to walk round, but interior and exterior are stunning. Will go back another time to see it in all its glory

Inside and out this is an immensely impressive place. The Eucharist we attended was inclusive and welcoming and the whole experience remarkable. The low fall sunlight played dramatically through the nave windows throughout the service and the guest singing group from Knutsford did a good job.

A wonderful warm and friendly building, set in an intimate cathedral close. The music here is excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. The statues on the west front are really interesting.

A beautiful cathedral, architecturally stunning with gorgeous carvings and stained glass windows. It's free to enter, they just request a small donation of whatever you can afford. It's interesting to walk around and see the marble carvings, light a candle and listen to the choir sing (if they're in there!)
The area it's in is lovely, in it's own little cul-de-sac. A must see if ever in Lichfield.

What a wonderful and beautiful cathedral. I have family ties to it (mom inherited an etching and we later found out dad's side helped with the Skidmore screen), so we just had to pitstop to see it while in the UK. So glad we did! A nice sidenote is that it is donation-only, so you can give what you can afford, as opposed to other cathedrals charging 15 pounds to visit.

Went to a very pleasant organ recital with a video in the organ loft so that we could see the organist on a screen. Next day went to have a look round - will be really worth a visit next spring when the windows are reinstalled.

The Lichfield cathedral is a beautiful site to see, the architecture is amazing and the history behind it is fascinating too.
The grounds and surrounding buildings are well maintained and on sunny day beautiful to just sit and admire the cathedral, guided tours are available of the cathedral and still performs services which I think think is good as it is a cathedral and place of worship.
There are also parks close by which themselves are well maintained having beautifully arranged flower beds and water features as well as a few cafes and plenty of benches a nice place to have picnic, it is very close to the town centre were you can shop and dine at the wide variety of restaurants and quaint cafes.
It is well worth having a look at and very interesting to learn the history behind it definitely would go see again as everything is close by and lots to do!

Lichfield Cathedral is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England. Located in the Midlands, it has three magnificent spires which can be seen from where ever you are in the city. The interior is vast. Beautiful stain glass windows stream light down upon the huge ornate alter. Hundreds of statues adorn the outside walls. The cathedral casts its huge shadow over Minster pool creating a beauty spot to rival any in the country. Lichfield is steeped in history. The English Civil War was played out both in and around the cathedral with both Parliamentarians and Royalists holding siege there during the fighting. The Cathedral was badly damaged in one of the sieges. The Staffordshire Horde (the biggest medieval treasure to found) was discovered just a few miles from Lichfield and a replica is held at the cathedral.

What a lovely place to go and visit even if you aren't religious its a place to see. Its in a lovely little market town and its free to go into you just need to give a donation. The cathedral its self has beautiful stain glass windows and by looking around you can feel the history, i used to go to visit the cathedral with my school and its just the same now as it was back then.

I love visiting cathedrals, and Lichfield is one of my favourites. It provides the perfect combination of spiritual peace with the beauty of design and some amazing history - ask to see the replicas of The Hoard, and some of the illuminated books in their library.

Recently visited Lichfield for the first time and decided to wander up to the cathedral to take a look at the exterior. Was pleasantly surprised to find that there is no entrance fee for this magnificent building. Once inside the area is huge - one of the biggest I've ever seen and you can wander around for as long as you wish without any pressure on you. Photography is not a problem although some areas do not allow the use of the flash. There is also a small gift shop and the prices are very reasonable. Would recommend anyone who visits the city to go and spend at least twenty minutes exploring this beautiful building.

We visit many Cathedrals to enjoy the architecture, music and worship. Lichfield scored very high on each of these and we really enjoyed talking to many of the local team.

I Have been coming here for about three years, since I started seeing someone who lived locally and then a year ago I moved to Lichfield so go there at least once a week.
The architecture is awe inspiring, the stone masonry off the scale, it's history incredible. Every body that work there are genuinely very friendly and every visitor receives a warm welcome. The services are high church but without the usual haughtiness that other places are guilty of. It is the jewel of Lichfield and it's prominence as part of the skyline for me gives me a great sense of comfort as I travel round the city. If you visit Lichfield then the Cathedral is simply a must and for some of you it will be a great spiritual experience as well..

This Cathedral is most worthy of a visit by anyone young or old,and very accessible for the disabled with wheel chairs etc. My husband who can not walk far had plenty of opportunities to sit down, so was able to take his time in viewing all aspects of this amazing building. We had a very pleasant afternoon here. Toilets and drinks etc are not available within the Cathedral but do not be put off by this as they located very close within the square around the Cathedral. No fee to enter but a donation is requested.
