Truly beautiful cathedral , & the only one in England to boast three spires. The whole setting of the cathedral square is stunning. We all know of Canterbury , York & Durham Cathedrals , which are world class , but Lichfield Cathedral is a real hidden treasure. What a lovely gem of a building. Fabulous acoustics , beautiful stained glass windows , impressive vaulted ceilings , everything is just magical about the place . Reasonable sized Cathedral , yet quite intimate too if required with it's lovely central aisle & altar.
We recently attended a wedding vow renewal here & it was truly a magical , beautiful experience. The setting is superb.
Thank you for making us most welcome.

The Cathedral stands tall within Lichfield, and when up close almost appears to sit on a pedestal raised up from the road. It is a fantastic piece of art and workmanship. We didn't go in but it left a good impression. The cathedral is surrounded by many other historic buildings so its a fine setting. There is a centre and café opposite for those want a snack and drink. Worth a visit.

Our 'Biddy Bus Trip' (I belong to a local seniors club) destination was to Lichfield. After a quick snoop around the market stalls we wandered off to the Cathedral. It was a beautiful day to be meandering around the quaint streets with a good variety of independent retailers.
The Cathedral was hosting part of the 'Staffordshire Hoard' when we visited. A very knowledgeable guide gave us an informative talk on the display & architecture of the building. It's an amazing place to visit - just bursting with history & masonry beauty.

Well worth a visit. It also holds events outside the cathedral in the close during the Lichfield Festival which is held in July and also a Victorian Market so it is an integral part of our city.

What a Beautiful Cathedral, inside & out, Free Admission, which is unusual these days, but would have paid a fee to go in if required, Donations can be given if you want to,.If ever you are in the lovely shopping area of Lichfield, which has some gorgeous little shops, just walk towards the river, where you can see the Cathedral, NOT TO BE MISSED.

A real treasure to visit this beautiful place; not the most attractive on the outside but, with all its history, a truly wonderful place.
The stewards were exceptionally helpful and not intrusive and the Chapter House a glimpse of history through the ages.
Well done St Chad!!

As far as cathedrals go, this one is more beautiful on the inside than the outside, due to it being built of sandstone and had a bit of weather erosion. Admission was free, however I felt a donation was well deserved to help preserve this beautiful historic building

There were cathedral staff present who were very approachable and willingly gave a history lesson with regards to the cathedral. There was plenty to see, such as part of the Staffordshire Saxon hoard and St Chad's gospels etc. Well worth a visit and not far from Lichfield centre.

We came across this beautiful gothic building by chance while staying in Lichfield for a few days.

It is a magnificent building with a unique and fascinating history to it.

The volunteers who run it are extremely knowledgeable and very approachable.
When we visited there were several school parties who appeared to have been booked in for a cultural day to learn about the historical background of the church and the area.
They were as quiet as mice! That's how fascinating it is!

There are the usual facilities of gift shop and coffee shop adjacent to the church, but this has been done with the greatest of respect to the spiritual nature of the building and it's history.

Well worth a visit.

As per the title and put simply, an impressive piece of built and historical architecture in a gem of a place (Lichfield). Well worth a visit.

Impressive from every angle, helpful and friendly volunteers. A small area inside for children, as well as information geared towards them. I felt welcome even with a 2 year old! Absolutely beautiful and worth a visit. Unlike the cathedrals in Spain where we live, there was no charge for the visit (or crowd!) So we happily made a donation.

As a relatively local person, I been to Lichfield Cathedral several times, but not to look at it, so I thought it time that I rectified this. I was not disappointed. It is a beautiful building, with a stunning facade. We were welcomed into the building by two volunteers and our visit was enhanced by other knowledgeable volunteers around the building. Its history is interesting, and there is a beautiful Chapter House. The stained glass is beautiful, particularly in the Lady Chapel. We finished our visit with refreshments in the tearoom which were good value and tasty.
My suggestion for improvement would be that the literature available is lightweight and I should have liked more detail but that said, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

We made a return visit to this wonderful medieval cathedral after 20 years and it is well worth the visit. This cathedral is an amazing structure built in 1195 with so much to see. We also had the chance to visit the home of and museum to Erasmus Darwin the grandfather of Charles Darwin. He was a doctor and inventor and you can learn a great deal here. The city itself has some pretty old buildings. It's all worth a day out.

Had a lovely walk round with my mum. Beautiful facade and interesting chapter house. There was a wedding going on and as they left the organ started up. Awesome, the whole place was vibrating.

Lichfield Cathedral is definitely amongst the top that England has to offer. With its finely sculpted facade it is an impressive building on the approach. The only three spired cathedral in Europe, it's beauty continues on the inside, with a vast array of stained glass, hidden nooks and chambers, as well as exhibits and tombs to explore. Truly a must visit!

Fantastically impressive gothic cathedral rears up like an alien spaceship over the placid leafy Stowe and Minster pools. I don't know of any other cathedral quite like it in the UK.

The cathedral of Litchfield City is one of the less well known cathedrals in the UK but is no less spectacular than any of the more famous ones. It's impressive façade is a focal point as you enter the cathedral close and the surroundings are very pleasant with a gift shop, Erazmus Darwin house and a cathedral coffee shop and restaurant all in close proximity. The interior of the cathedral reflects the 1200 years of history at this location and there are informative displays regarding the cathedral as well as local history and relics in the Chapter House. It is free to enter with a donation requested on exit. Certainly one of the most noticeable local landmarks and well worth a visit.

The cathedral is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit. There was a service on when we got there and although we were welcome to go and join in we decided to have a picnic in the grounds and enjoy the spectacular architecture from the outside in the sunshine before we went inside. A lovely family day out.

A bit taken aback by the welcome - pushing for donations immediately we entered the sacred building. Undoubtedly it is a beautiful building and well looked after but it is a house of God and anyone should be able to enter without being harassed for money. If payment is so important just set an entry price and be done with it. As it was we made a donation into the box before we left the building but it might have been more if we hadn't felt so pressured.
