I can't get enough of this place. I love the serenity, history and the architecture. There are knowledgeable guides with fascinating facts and each time my wife and I visit, we always seem to learn something new. Places like this are a national heritage and need preserving because NEVER will anything as impressive as centuries old churches and cathedrals be undertaken again.

Lichfield Cathedral is a unique building with its 3 spires and impressive architecture. It has appeared on many TV programmes and is well worth a visit. Most areas within the Cathedral are accesible and interesteting displays are ofetn on show

Lichfield Cathedral is beautiful no matter when you visit. We are local and bring friends and relations all the time. It is easy to find and simple to park in the City Centre. Lots of History, friendly staff and very nice. Recommended for all ages. Just a short walk from the City Centre.

As we walked upto the cathedral, we realised we were approaching a special place. The exterior, especially the West Front, is among the most beautiful I’ve seen in the UK.
On entering we were warmly greeted, later we appreciated the help from the friendly volunteer in the Chapter House, who helped us understand the treasures there.
The interior of the building is rather plain compared to the ornate exterior. There were less memorials than we expect to see in a church of this age.
The Chapter House has the Lichfield Gospel on display, plus various parts of the Staffordshire hoard (Anglo Saxon treasure). We appreciated the display about writing a manuscript. I’ve always marvelled at the time it takes a scribe to produce a single ornamented page. Now I understand his labour is just a small part of the work involved in producing the single sheet.
Entrance is free. However you are given tickets, and the volunteer strongly urged us to make a donation at that point – rather too much pressure was used I feel. We refused to donate at that time, but did leave a donation later.
Toilets are outside, but clearly signed. By the toilets the cathedral runs a café, which served us an excellent lunch, and again the staff were very friendly.
This is a special place. It’s one of the finest cathedrals I’ve seen in the UK, so if you have the opportunity, do visit it.

Living close to lichfield, I like to walk around lichfield cathedral, it's beautify picturesque, there's alot of history there, you can also buy items at the cathedral shop just over the road from the cathedral. Well worth the visit

We love visiting the Cathedral. The people are always welcoming and there is so much to see from the 'defaced' gargoyles within to Staffordshire gold and the icon of St Chad.

Definitely worth a visit. Sit quietly and reflect or wander around taking in some great history aided by some very informative volunteers. A highlight was coming in for the men's and boy's choir for Evensong with some beautiful Psalm singing.

Stunning, in a beautiful setting on the river. It's amazing it just pops up out of no where in the middle of what feels like a little village.

Due to lack of time, I didn't have the time to go in to the cathedral. Or at least, that was the plan but the whole place was so impressive that I HAD to see more and took the time to go inside!

we found the cathedral interesting even on a return visit a lot of information around the cathedral about the history and the building of the cathedral there is a small gift shop inside and in a building over the road from the cathedral.

Thank goodness for a cathedral that doesn't demand payment to let you in. Thank you. But it is well worth the donation they hope you will leave. Don't miss out the chapter house. Very helpful guides will help you get the most out of your visit.

This gorgeous sandstone cathedral is completely worth an hour or so. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies with a triple spire to boot. The front of the cathedral is covered in Saints, kings and other worthy peoples of note from a swathe of history. Very interesting.

Imposing with its three spires, visible from a fair few miles around by whatever route nearby(-ish), the Cathedral's interior was exuberantly self-confident in its many Gothic arches and adjuncts.
Being interested ourselves in such edifices and their reference to our turbulent history, I/we shall return in order to explore more deeply and appreciate this imposing building.
Being short on time despite its being our first time ever in Lichfield, we just could not let ourselves forgo at least some time at this cathedral. Even on such short acquaintance and even on being so close to closing time that nobody was exhorting us for the recommended donation of £5 per person for the upkeep, we can budget for that for our next time.
The facade above the main entrance is a gallery of veritable sculpting dexterity, with the inclusion beneath each figure of his name (no; we detected no female figures, although female martyrs and saints may well have featured in the higher parts of the facade).

A cathedral is a cathedral is a cathedral, right? Well, from a floorplan point of view yes - but from a tour guide and staffing point of view - no, not all cathedrals are the same. Lichfield Cathedral is well served by helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides and friendly staff in both the shop and reception areas. It is a fantastic building and one that even someone like myself who isn't overly interested in the religious symbolism can appreciate.

I grew up in Lichfield so I am maybe bias about the city's perks, but the cathedral is arguably one of the BEST cathedrals I have ever seen...
If it is history you are looking for the build is overflowing with juicy knowledge. There is so much information on display, if you have questions there is also always someone to help too. Home to many volunteers, you are met by a willing fact guru with a smile.
The architecture is stunning and a treat from every angle. Make your way around Cathedral close to take in the full 360, with various parks in Lichfield you can also spot the spire for miles. I remember as a teenager I used to lie in front of the cathedral facing up late at night, it is one of the most phenomenal sights and a great thinking spot.
The cathedral does not have an entry charge but suggests a donation. This makes the site accessible to everyone; those who cannot afford the luxury of big prices on historic properties and those who live in them! I recommend a donation as places such as this cannot run without the help and support of the local and wider community. Be it 20p or £20 it will go to use. The cathedral is in need of many repairs and restorations, one of which being its phenomenal stained glass windows. It's so important we both preserve and restore the site to its full glory... this of course applies to so many place across the country.
The cathedral is close to the town centre and easily accessible, consequently it is also close to various sources of nutrients after/before your visit. You cannot visit Lichfield and not see it's cathedral, it is beautiful, inspiring and 'good value'.
