A great morning spent visiting a massive medieval church (free of charge!!), which contains plenty of history to take in. The sheer size of the church with its detailed exterior is truly intimidating as it towers over the town of Lichfield.

We were greeted by a lovely woman who ensured the child with us had the specially designed children's trail guide and told us about and where to find the exhibition with the Turner painting that we had specifically come to see.
We had a look around the entire Cathedral and spent around 45m-1h.
Around the cathedral were interactive information points which were interesting.
We all enjoyed our visit.

I would have given it six stars, as it's simply a magnificent Gothic style Cathedral. Normally, when I'm here, I've usually been herding a group of teenagers, and ensuring that they're both well behaved and respectfully quiet. Such a pleasure to wander around on my own, especially with the added bonus of the Turner Exhibition.

When I see this I gasped it is stunning on the outside aswell as the inside, its a gem. So much to look at we spent ages the organ the stunning pictures the stained glass it's so worth visiting

On our stay at Swinfen Hotel we went into Lichfield and visited the Cathedral which is free entry. Inside was beautiful with lots of history all around but it is the Stain glass windows that make this Cathedral which are stunning .

Although not normally in to this kind of stuff, we loved the cathedral. There was a Turner exhibition on at the time, and also lots of history on local military, the cathedral itself and its importance to the local community.

Lichfield is a very special place for me ,I have some very good freiends who live there ,when I visit I always call at the Catherdral to say aPrayer for my family who have passed away ,it's a lovely Catherdral

Beautiful building in a wonderful location, also very peaceful and a lovely place to just sit and contemplate no matter if you are of a religious bent or not, fascinating history, helpful staff and if you're so inclined a nice tea room /restaurant and a good gift shop close by, the rest of Lichfield is close by so could be incorporated into a really nice day out.

We visited the area around the cathedral as at the time there was a private event on. It's a stunning building and would have loved to view inside. Well worth a visit.

Simply magnificent. Take a pause to gaze at the row of gargoyles on the exterior side wall before you reach the front entrance. One is pulling a face while another appears to be vomiting energetically!
The front facade is breathtaking. Approach slowly and allow yourself time to take in the intricacy of the carving.
Inside, the stained glass is captivating and worthy of a visit in itself.
Be sure to visit the foot-bathing corridor and of course the Lichfield Angel.
The only aspect that tainted my visit was the frequency of requests all around to make donations. Rather off-putting. However, don't let this deter you.The cathedral is very special, and well worth the walk through the town centre to get there.

Magnificent triple-spired cathedral, set in a close of beautiful houses, this place never fails to inspire and delight. Soaring stained-glass windows at the east end will give you a crick in the neck from gazing upwards, but well worth any discomfort. Our favourite spot is St Chad's Head Chapel, where the angel musicians in the windows sport peacock feather wings, it is a good place for a quiet moment of reflection. Make sure you see the famed Lichfield Angel stone carving, and see if you also think he looks rather like Jeremy Clarkson (sorry, Angel) :-)

It is hard to put in words how amazing this cathedral is .
The outside architecture is stunning and the amount of work it must have taken to create is astounding .
The interior is very much on the same level with lots to look at and enjoy.
All this and they allow access on a donation basis which I for one didn't mind adding to the box.
The town of Lichfield is also a really nice place to wonder around with plenty of shops to wonder around.

What a gem this often overlooked Anglican cathedral truly is. My last visit was some twenty years ago and I was surprised that entry was still free. Of course everyone makes a donation but it was nice to have the opportunity to make a donation which we felt was appropriate rather than the extortionate fees charged by some other similar attractions. The close is as beautiful as most others in England and a stroll around the outside of the cathedral is highly recommended. There was a Turner exhibition in today which was a unexpected bonus for those inclined. We were allowed access to the quire and there was a booklet to help younger visitors enjoy and discover the cathedral. Truly beautiful.

We were welcomed in even for the last 20mins of Sunday service. So glad we did.
This is a truly epic sized cathedral and architecturally stunning. The outside is a feast for the eyes and could not possibly disappoint.
Highly recommend a visit.

We visited this gothic cathedral 30 years ago, and I want to reacquaint myself with the three spires and the reddish colour of the stone. It is far better than I remember! We attend Sunday Choral Eucharist which we enjoy, but the building itself is a wonder. There are many stained glass windows, but the Lady Chapel with its collection of large Belgian windows is wonderful. There are also many ornate iron grills, and the columns are clusters of stone straws which flare out at the top. There is a strange Chapel of the Head of St Chad, even though the bones and head of St Chad have been missing for 500 years! And finally, there are lovely views of the cathedral across the Minster Pool just south of the cathedral. A treat!
