A really atmospheric and special evening We were taken around the cathedral by candlelit We were reminded that this is what the cathedral would have been like in the middle ages and to remember the thousands who would have been in this sacred space. We were also shown special carvings .the Lichfield Angel and so much more. What a way to experience this great building

Compared to other UK cathedrals, Lichfield must rank very highly indeed. It may not have the grandeur of many but it is grand in its own right. What it may lack superficial, it makes up for, with its historic architecture and the history of the place that seems to seep from its very walls. It truly is beautiful, a must do, should you be in the area.
We took a FREE guided tour at 14:00hrs, which took about 45 minutes. 1 guide chaperoning 4 visitors, heavenly!
What an education we had, our guide was superb, so knowledgeable, the facts flew and she made it sound so interesting, as if it was the first tour of the week.
Professional to the core, congratulations and a huge thank you!
Entrance to the cathedral was free, donations were discretionary. A wonderful 2 hr visit.
A great loss for yourself if you are in Lichfield and you don’t call in!

We had a tour of the cathedral on Thursday 21 November 2019 at 11.00. Margaret was an excellent guide - her knowledge was extensive and she imparted many fascinating facts which made the visit so memorable. She took time to answer our questions and we would happily have spent more time with her. We strongly recommend this tour.

Interesting Cathedral. They were just setting up for Bach music in the afternoon. Pleased to see it was free to enter, so many make a charge to enter. Bought a thimble at cathedral shop as I collect them. Worth walking to from the town.

Fantastic architecture, history and atmosphere: plus a range of events organised across the year. But - importantly - a space to relax and reflect without pressure.

What a truly amazing place the cathedral is. Tonight we are here to watch the Lichfield Youth Theatre performing Songs from the Musicals and what a magical place to perform it in.
Living some 50 miles away it is such a treat to attend Evensong, services and the fabulous shows.
We have never attended a classical orchestral evening, do they have one, but the acoustics are wonderful.
Usual plenty of parking around Lichfield, some free after 6, so look around for them. Us, we use the train.
No loo in the cathedral I'm afraid, so if you're wrinklies like the misses and I go over the road beside the cathedral by the cafe, before going in.

Beautiful Cathedral but shame we arrived when they were tuning the Organ!!! Awful sound!! Plus they were closing for 2 hours due to a royal visit! Perhaps should have checked their website pre visit! Tea shop was great though ... Couldn't do enough for us!

Not the largest or most spectacular cathedral I’ve ever been to, but very interesting, with some of the most beautiful collection of stained glass windows i’ve ever seen. An three spires!

Didn’t “feel “ it here . Little information given out here. I am a great church/cathedral visitor , but, I am sorry to say this one left me cold .
Over zealous staff , pushing too hard for donations didn’t help I am afraid. I know funds are needed , but, it was quite embarrassing to hear their spiel.

Well worth a visit , lots of information, free entry but would recommend a generous donation so that this can continue. Good gift shop.

The building lacks the visual impact of many other cathedrals due in large part to the stone of which it was built. The structure clearly needed much renovation from the attention it received from the Victorian restorers but when one considers the craftsmanship they bought to the task that in itself is impressive. Sad to see the statue of King Charles left outside to moulder.

We only visited Lichfield by chance, and were delighted to discover this impressive, uplifting and welcoming cathedral.
