While buying attempting to buy a Xmas present I was prevented from entering the premises because I had a dog with me, a medical assistance dog. The security man on the door refused me entry and I had to wait outside on crutches in pain while he clarified if I was to be allowed in. I would have gone elsewhere except they are the only stockists of what I wanted. When I was allowed in I voiced my concern of being refused entry and was told the security was not aware of the rules. The 'rules' are the law! I was disabled and refused entry until clarified. They have lost my business forever.
Reply from ES Jewellery: Dear Joe H
The security guard wasn't directly employed by us and was sent to us from a security firm (which I will think twice about using in the future) so he should have known the rules as regards assistance dogs and I did apologise profusely to you on the day as I was genuinely mortified about what happened. He told me he couldn't see any markings on your dog so he asked you politely to wait a moment whilst he clarified with me that it was okay for you to enter the store. The shop at the time was extremely busy and the security guard was concerned for yours, your dogs and other members of the public's safety which I don't think he made clear to you at the time.
Again I apologise for the any inconvenience to you during the busy Christmas period and hope that you will be able to give us another chance in the future.
