We hadn't been to the Stag for years, so when friends said they had booked a table for dinner for the four of us we was looking forward to the visit and it certainly did not disappoint, on arrival there was plenty of parking in the car park despite being a busy evening. We was greated by a lovely lady behind the bar who gave us a choice of tables & served us drinks from a well stocked bar.
There was a good choice of food on the menu & specials on the board all reasonable priced. The atmosphere was warm & welcoming.
Our food arrived promptly & was absolutely delicious, so much so that we decided to have dessert which we don't allways do, my friends ordered the lemon meringue & Belgium waffle which againethey told me were delicious, I ordered the lemon cake which unfortunately was sold out of, not surprising given the number of diner's over the course of the evening, not really a problem as like i said im not really a desert lover at the best of times, so I decided to finish my meal with a coffee instead.
On leaving the landlord caught up with us & apologised for being out of lemon cake, he then insisted that I have a slice of prepacked lemon cake from their coffee shop, which is open during the day, this was a very nice touch & a lovely end to a lovely evening. We certainly won't leave it so long before returning againe.
Definitely well worth a visit.

Stayed overnight in the car park in our Motorhome. We had a fantastic welcome from the landlady & her staff and a really nice Sunday roast. Such a friendly pub!

Stunning. It's the first time I'd been in this pub and was very impressed. The food was gorgeous and the bar staff really made you feel welcome. The landlord even came over and had a chat. Very friendly place with really good food.

Tired and hungry we stopped at the Stag on way home to York at 8.30pm just as the kitchen was closing on a Karaoke evening The lovely staff and chef were extremely helpful and realising we had a long journey ahead kindly offered us a limited selection of hot food and showed us to a quiet table in really nice surroundings. I had the Chicken Curry and wife Scampi and Chips. The food was absolutely delicious, and greatly appreciated!! We highly recommend this marvellous country pub!!
