Renovation grants are on offer to provide help to owner-occupiers for repairs, and providing help to ensure efficient heating throughout the property. Empty homes renovation grants can help to restore empty properties to full use. Disabled Facility Grants are also available to elderly and disabled people to help them keep their independence in their own home. Councillor John Mowles, the Borough Council’s Housing portfolio-holder, said: “We are committed to doing what we can to help stop privately-owned houses from falling into serious disrepair and we are prioritising bringing empty properties back into residential use. We have made some funding available for these purposes by way of renovation (improvement) grants. We would welcome applications for such grants.” Each grant has certain conditions that must be met.
