Insurance Broker Achieves Chartered Status
Ipswich based Pound Gates provide insurance broking and risk management solutions for businesses. We have been awarded the prestigious title of ‘Chartered Insurance Broker’ by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Chartered status is an exclusive title only awarded to firms which meet rigorous criteria relating to professionalism and capability. All Chartered Insurance Brokers commit to the CII’s Code of Ethics, reinforcing the highest standards of professional practice in their business dealings.

Chartered Insurance Institue
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is dedicated to promoting higher standards of competence and integrity in the insurance industry. It does this through the provision of training and qualifications. CII is the world’s largest professional body dedicated to the insurance sector.
As well as operating qualifications and accreditations for individuals working in the insurance industry, general insurance brokers can now become Chartered Insurance Brokers if the firm meets minimum threshold conditions, these include staff achieving personal qualifications.
These threshold conditions are rigorous and to date less than 100 firms have become Chartered.
For staff studying to pass CII exams Pound Gates pays for the cost of exam material and provides days off to study. When staff achieve qualifications we pay them a tax free award.

Pound Gates is a commercial insurance broker – we do not handle insurances for individuals.
We are based in St Vincent House, Ipswich. We were established in 1988. We employ 25 people.
As well as being a prominent East Anglia insurance broker for businesses in this area there are a number of business sectors in which we specialise. These sectors include children’s day nurseries, independent schools and academies, removal companies and self storage companies. In these sectors we handle clients from across the UK.
The firm is Investor in People and ISO 9001 (Quality Management) accredited.
During November the staff have raised funds for Movember. To date more than £6,500 has been raised. Movember is about growing moustaches for the month of November to raise awareness and funds for male health issues.
Pound Gates sister company Sevatas, also owned by Kevin Collins, is Europe’s leading provider of risk management, claims and damage reduction solutions to car manufacturers (for cars that get damaged in transit between manufacturing point and dealer delivery).
