Press release from the New Wolsey Theatre:

Tickets for events at the New Wolsey Theatre this autumn go on sale on Saturday 8 June. Friends and benefactors can book from Saturday 25 May and group bookers and schools can book from Saturday 1 June.

The season opens with Our House, a New Wolsey actor-musician production which opens the season on 12 September and subsequently embarks on a UK tour to Nottingham, Edinburgh, Bath, Coventry, Brighton and Plymouth.

Winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical and inspired by the music of Madness, this raucous musical comedy is an uplifting tale of life and love, heartbreak and hilarity, good and bad set in London's famous Camden Town in the mid-80's. It's Joe Casey's 16th birthday and tonight's the night he's treating his girlfriend Sarah to an evening in a brand new luxury apartment - the only problem is he has to break in!  When the police turn up Joe has to decide - run away, or face the music - a choice that will set the course of his life, and his love, forever.

Using some of the greatest hits from the mighty Madness back catalogue including: Our House, Baggy Trousers, My Girl, Driving in My Car, The Wings of a Dove, Night Boat to Cairo and the all-time classic It Must Be Love,  you'd be mad to miss it!

Our House is written by Tim Firth whose work includes the record-breaking Calendar Girls, Kinky Boots, Preston Front and Neville's Island.

Sarah Holmes, New Wolsey Chief Executive;

"It's very exciting to take Our House on tour and to showcase work created in Ipswich at venues up and down the country. The combination of Tim Firth's sharp dialogue and well-loved Madness songs is irresistible and we believe the actor-musician treatment will take it into another dimension."

As You Like It by Transport also premieres at the New Wolsey this autumn. Co-produced with the New Wolsey Theatre and Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and presented by house, critically-acclaimed Transport (Invisible, 1001 Nights, Elegy and Europe) reinvents this popular favourite among Shakespeare's comedies.

PAINES PLOUGH presents JUMPERS FOR GOALPOSTS, a hilarious and heart-warming story about football, friendship and finding your way from Tom Wells, winner of the George Devine Award for Most Promising Playwright 2012.

New Perspectives Theatre Company presents The Lovesong Of Alfred J Hitchcock by David Rudkin. This new play takes a unique look at the way the great filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock developed the ideas of his most famous films, including Marnie, Vertigo, Psycho and Strangers On A Train. The result is a unique and haunting character study and an unprecedented journey into the mind of one our most fascinating cultural icons.

In Formby, Ewan Wardrop plays George Formby, a unique on-man performance which follows Formby's rise from awkward stable boy to one of Britain's biggest stars.

The Original Theatre Company recently presented Birdsong at the New Wolsey and return next season with The Private Ear and The Public Eye, the first major revival in 50 years of these intimate one-act plays by the acclaimed, multi-award winning British playwright, Sir Peter Shaffer (Amadeus, Equus, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, Lettice & Lovage and Five Finger Exercise ). Both short and bitter-sweet comedies, performed as a matching pair on the same night, give us a fascinating window into the turbulent changing attitudes to love in the 60s through a brilliant combination of comedy, pathos and drama.

New Wolsey Youth Theatre presents The Grimm Tales, seven classic tales from the Brothers Grimm and New Wolsey Young Company present Simon Stephen's Punk Rock, a powerful and shattering play that explores the volatility of adolescent life.

This season the New Wolsey introduces a new strand of work - work for young people programmed by young people. The team behind the New Wolsey's PULSE Fringe Festival has selected three shows from the eastern region which also play at New Wolsey Studio. They are Boris & Sergey II from Flabbergast Theatre, Milk Presents: Self Service and After The Rainfall from Curious Directive.

Local company, Allegra Productions, present Britten's Got Talent, a chamber musical with cabaret songs by Robin Sparks, Rationale Productions present a brand new Hip-Hop dance theatre production called In My Shoes and you can enjoy an afternoon in the company of Helen Fraser on Saturday 26 October.
