The chance to bring a cinema back to Hitchin for the first time in decades?

Following recent 'proposals' from Simons on a massive redevelopment in Hitchin, present owners Hammersmatch are this week presenting their own proposed scheme.

There's an exhibition in the old Pebbles shop behind St Mary's and next door to the Triangle cafe. Go along and find out more, including the possible inclusion of a cinema. Interestingly, they intend to refurbish the existing monstrosity that faces the Market Square, rather than knock it down and start again.

The exhibition is open on Friday and Saturday between 11am and 4pm.

More than anything, local residents, shoppers and business people should take a look and express an opinion. One way or another, this part of the town centre has an effect on the whole look and feel of Hitchin. We need to make it something to be proud of.
