Relaxed and social networking at Champneys Henlow

Just recovering from last night.  No not a night out on the tiles (unfortunately) but our latest networking event which was hosted by Champneys Henlow - most definately 'the place to be'.   A wonderful venue in beautiful grounds and I have to say a huge thank you to Rosina and Sandra for all their hospitality.  It was an absolute pleasure to turn up and be told to relax and have everything sorted.  Did you realise that for £25 per person you can have a meal and use of the spa facilities from 5pm?  I think I will be partaking of this at some point soon!

Of course when you run your own events you never really get to mingle with anyone.  It's like being at your own wedding, saying a 'few words' to everyone and not really speaking properly to anyone!  But we had just under 100 local businesses from Hitchin and the surrounding areas turn up which Keith and I were delighted with.  A brilliant Jazz Band - Ad hoc.  I would recommend these guys, something a bit different and to make people relax.  And Helen and Adam Wilson from Charles Wilson Carpets in Hitchin did a brilliant presentation on why 'floorings not boring!'  They've been in the business for 35 years and still going strong.

Have you ever been conscious that someone was taking your picture and then you try to act natural but fail miserably?  That was me last night.  Geoff Ide from Oxygen in Hitchin was there with a camera man capturing the event on film and speaking with some of our bestofhitchin members.  Eventually you kind of ignore them and just go about your business but to start off with I felt very self conscious.  When someone tells you not to look at the camera but to talk to the interviewer, what do you do?  You look straight at the camera!  I can't wait to see the final footage but again the amount of effort the guys from Oxygen put in was amazing and we are very thankful for their time.

So what now?  Well start planning for the next one which is on 19th November in the restaurant at The Centre for the Arts in Hitchin.  There is a limit on numbers here for H&S so any interested businesses can book now!  For me, must sleep ..... don't know how event co-ordinators do this day in day out ... too much like hard work!
