The lights have been going on around the streets of Hitchin for the last couple of weeks and festive shop windows have begun to appear.

But none of it is like the official switch-on which takes place on Friday 22 November from 2:30pm in the Market Square.

If you're new to Hitchin, you probably have no idea what to expect, but it'll be huge! There'll be food and music from Heart FM, the Christmas Belles and fun for all the family. It's ALWAYS one of Hitchin's biggest nights of the year. If you're planning to eat out later, you'd better book a table now, because you might just be unlucky!

In previous years, the Market Square has been simply thronged with people all afternoon and evening and the Christmas spirit is definitely in the air. There's no reason for this year to be any different.

After the lights go on at 7pm, the real party begins, with local favourites Genie and the Jivebombers live on stage. If you've never heard them before, then you're in for a treat.

And don't forget as the Christmas season really kicks in, to BUY LOCAL! Ther's no reason to leave Hitchin for all your Christmas needs.
