Negative Thoughts - Rachael’s Tuesday Stress Busting Tip

WHAT IS GOING ON – Spend a few minutes thinking about how you react to potentially stressful situations. For instance, what do you say to yourself (that little voice in your head) if you encounter a problem? Do you say something along the lines of ‘I can’t deal with this’, ‘this will make me stressed’ or ‘Ahhhhh this problem can’t be solved’? Take a moment to think about the effect of the little voice in your head on your stress levels. If you tell yourself you can’t do it, then you’re not giving yourself much of a chance.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF – Begin by noticing your thought patterns and then start to challenge them. Thoughts are least powerful when they first come into your mind so when you notice a negative or unhelpful thought start to pop into your mind purposefully and with conviction swop it with a more helpful one e.g. I CAN do this, I CAN deal with this, I HAVE the skills and the experience, I AM doing my best. Practice this technique regularly and notice the results. It will have a great positive impact not only on stress but also on your emotional wellbeing.

I have some great effective and simple techniques to help reduce negative thinking patterns. Contact DAWN Coaching & Therapy today.
