MEET THE WOMAN BEHIND THE BUSINESS …

Your name? Bina Briggs

Your business name? Plain Talking HR Limited

How long have you been in business? 5 and a half years.

What do you love most about your job?  Every day is different and we make a tangible difference to the our clients’ businesses when we’re called in to help.

Your claim to fame?  PTHR Orange Scarf! I have also been on TV on “London Luton Airport” series.

 Your first childhood memory? Eating sweets with my Dad.

How long have you been a member of WIBN and why did you join? 4 months, since the launch of the Luton Group and it seemed like a good group to join.

Most frightening film and why? Psychological thrillers such as Fatal Attraction or any Horror Films. (I avoid watching films like these as I keep thinking about them for a very long time afterwards.)

What sort of training did you have before going into this business? HR- at Corporate level as HR Manager of London Luton Airport for many years – I am CIPD Qualified , Businesswise, none!

What advice would you give someone who wants to set up their own business?  Focus on what makes you different from others in your industry, be genuine and seek advice and support from people around you as you can’t do it alone!

The one business you couldn’t possibly live without? The Card shop on the corner!

Who is the most interesting person you have met? Ben Hunt-Davis MBE

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you? Meryl Streep (with a tanned face!) I can think of one or two of the Bollywood actresses  though!)

 What is the last book you read?  Life of Pi

 What is the best thing that someone has said about you and your business? After a Dentist became our retained client and helped with his Employment matters, he said could sleep at night!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing – what one thing would you do differently? I’d have left the corporate world a lot more earlier and started my own business.

If you could be a super hero, what would you want your superpowers to be? Heal people’s emotional wounds.

How would you describe your business in three words? PRACTICAL PRAGMATIC FRIENDLY

What were you hoping we’d ask you, but didn’t? What motivates me or What type of clients we’re looking for.

How have things changed for your business over the past few years? It’s grown, matured and seen as an established business within the HR Industry and the local business community.

What is the greatest challenge in running a business? Keeping a Focus on the business growth.

What are your plans for the future? Continue to build on what we have achieved so far.

What’s the best thing about being a member of WIBN? The sense of belonging to a powerful national organisation and yet being part of a friendly and supportive local business community.
