MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BUSINESS …

Your name?                                         Anisha Joshi

Your business name?                          Woodside Osteopathic Clinic

How long have you been in business? 4.5 years

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to fix people. We see a lot of people in pain that have lost hope of ever returning to work, being unable to exercise again or even play with their kids because of how severe their injuries are. I love being able to ensure that our patients have a new lease on life. Without the need for invasive surgery.

Your claim to fame? Usain Bolt the World Record holder. I have given him advice about his back.

Most frightening film and why? The Blair Witch project, because I watched it when I was young and when I was in the middle of the woods.

What sort of training did you have before going into this business? No business training at all.

Have you always been in this type of business?  If not, what other jobs have you had? I’ve always been an osteopath.

What advice would you give someone who wants to set up their own business? Do your research, check the market for what you do in the area. Don’t be scared to take risks and believe in what you do because it’ll show to your clients.

The one local business you couldn’t possibly live without in Hitchin? Taste Buds and Just desserts… for obvious reasons.

Who is the most interesting person you have met? It’s a patient actually, he’s lived in Hitchin his whole life and is now 85 years old. He knows all the history of Hitchin and it fascinates me.

What’s your favourite spot in Hitchin and why? Café Air in the market square (when it’s sunny) because you can watch the world go by.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you? Sandra Bullock or Julia Roberts because they’re awesome actresses.

What is the last book you read? Life of Pi

What is the best thing that someone has said about you and your business? That they had lost all hope with the medical system including consultants, GPs, physios, Chiropractors and other osteopaths. That not only did their pain diminish completely with treatment at Woodside, they also felt like they were important and that the friendliness of the staff was a huge asset.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing – what one thing would you do differently? I’d do online booking for patients

If you could be a super hero, what would you want your superpowers to be? To multiply! Most days I wish there were 2 or 3 of me.

How would you describe your business in three words? Friendly, Genuine and Reliable

What were you hoping we’d ask you, but didn’t? ‘What age range are your patients?’ They’re all ages from 8 years old – 93 years old.

How have things changed for your business over the past few years? It’s gone from being 2 osteopaths to being a multidisciplinary clinic. We now have 3 osteopaths, sports massage, podiatry, nutrition, Pilates, yoga, tai chi, reiki and counselling all under one roof. Also it was only open 4 days a week, we are now open 6 days a week and everyday till 8pm to provide more convenient slots for patients that commute into London or need childcare.

What do you love to do when you’re not working? I love spending time with my family and friends. I go into London a lot for dinner and drinks.

What is the greatest challenge in running a business? Finding enough time in the day to do everything like accounts, marketing, wages etc…

What are your plans for the future? Expanding the clinic into the London corporate area. Providing osteopathic services in large businesses in London.

What’s the best thing about being a member of theBestof Hitchin so far? The reviews, it’s great that people can write real reviews about their experience here. I’ve found this also encourages new patients to book in with us.
