Massive scaffolding on Hermitage Road - a sign of future prosperity?

Walk up or down Hermitage Road and you can't miss the covered scaffolding over the old Post Office building. The Royal Mail Delivery Office was demolished several months ago and this is the next phase.

Eventually, there'll be a purpose-built hotel on the site. Does this show someone's view that Hitchin is a town worthy of visiting?

Most of us who live and work here have always believed that to be the case, but is this evidence?

Questions about car parking which may well become even more of an issue aside, it does feel as if we have fewer empty shops now.

Watch out for some interesting new businesses joining our bustling town centre - and don't forget to support them all.

Let's hope the new hotel will be finished and full soon!
