Ickleford Open Village this weekend includes access to Hitchin Lavender

Just a short drive (or a good brisk walk) from Hitchin town centre is the village of Ickleford and it's well worth a look. If you've never been before, this Sunday gives you the chance to snoop around some of the gardens and support St Katherine's Church's new Room-for-All.

All afternoon you'll be able to pop in and out of the open gardens for just £4 for adults (under 16s go free) and that includes Hitchin Lavender at Cadwell Farm, on the outskirts of the village.

Some venues will have refreshments on sale including lunch and cream tea. There's also a fete on the green, a display of miniature gardens in the Church and an exhibition of local art and photography at Hitchin Lavender.

And if you think it's a big village to walk around, there's a shuttle bus running!

As well as various lavender goodies for sale at Cadwell Farm, many of the gardens will also be selling plants, to help you develop your own special outside space.

Fingers crossed for this good weather continuing and a lovely afternoon had by all.
