The list, based on history, housing, amenities and 'looks' takes into account price data and the opinions of property gurus (who they are we don't know). The Times state that "Hitchin is overshadowed by St. Albans, but does have a lot going for it. Pretty town centre with an affluent feel. Excellent single sex schools, state and private and property is a 5th cheaper than St. Albans" Oddly enough, St.Albans doesn't feature in their top 30!
