Churchgate Information Days' from January 3rd - 5th, at the Community Shop in Hermitage Road. (Thurs 3rd 10am - 5pm, Fri 4th 10am - 8pm & Sat 5th 10am - 5pm). Simons have announced "a series of information days to provide Hitchin Residents with an update on their ideas for the redevelopment of the historic Churchgate area of Hitchin".
This will be followed by a public meeting - the Churchgate Liaison Forum - on Wednesday 9th at 7.30pm in Church House.
Councillors are due to be separately briefed on these ideas by Simons, but the formal decision on whether Simons will be given any extension to their 3 year deliberations will be made at the full Council meeting on Thursday January 31st.
Meanwhile, back with the current leaseholders, Hammersmatch are due to display their hopes of redeveloping the area adjacent to Churchgate at an exhibition at number 1 Churchyard - the former Pebbles shop - from Thursday January 17th til Saturday 19th, 11am - 4pm.
Anyone with views should look carefully at the proposals and communicate opinions to both Hitchin Forum and to your district councillor. The councillors will be having private briefings from Simons and will need residents to let them know what questions to ask, and what residents want for the town.
