Getting Carers Connected

Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North has a new project! – Carers are often short of time and feel cut off from the outside world; Getting Carers Connected hopes to empower these carers and provide them with the skills to use the internet confidently.  They will be shown by a team of volunteers, who we are in the process of recruiting, how to access services, shop online, keep in touch with people using email or through social networking sites – helping them to alleviate their social isolation and stress and enabling them to be more independent. The training will take place either one on one in carers’ homes or in workshops.

Once carers are trained and more confident it will not only open new doors to practical support and advice and time-saving ways of doing things but also provide them with access to social media – if they wish – and possibly extend their ability to socialise.

If you are a carer who would like to be involved, or someone interested in volunteering for Getting Carers Connected please contact Isabel Bauckham, Project Coordinator, on 01462 455578/ ibauckham@hertfordshirecrossroads-north.org.uk
