Yes it's that time of year where we get out our sparkly clothes and high heels (and that's just the men) and venture to to celebrate Christmas.  Where to go? Well whether it's an office party, night out with friends or family or a get together with your local club, there are a whole host of lovely places to eat and enjoy yourself this Christmas and New Year in and around Hitchin.

Here is a guide to a some of the best places to eat and party in Hitchin with links to their downloadable christmas menus.

In Hitchin town itself, we have Doughty's Brasserie run by Adrian and Victoria - this is the first of their three restaurants (the newest being the Crown at Northill which opened at the end of October 2010).  You can download their menu here  Dishes include Braised lamb shank, dauphinoise potatoes, roasted veg and rosemary juices fololwed by white chocolate and bailey's cheesecake and dark chocolate sauce!

Hitchin Priory Christmas Party Dates in December Hitchin Priory, well known for weddings and of course for hosting Rhythms of the World, they are running Christmas Party Events. You can book the whole venue or join in with other companies/groups for a bit more fun!


The Radcliffe Arms on Walsworth Road Hitchin was refurbished in 2009 and is managed by Stuart Alder. Christmas party bookings menu includes Daube of beef, woodland mushrooms, bacon lardons and baby onions and Chocolate and black cherry truffle with crème Chantilly. The Victoria Pub is run by Victoria Kevans and is a great hub of the local community.  She runs many events supporting local groups and clubs.  The Victoria offers home cooked food in a great pub.  In the summer months their is also a refurbished barn which is used for events. Mount Pleasant Golf Club on the outskirts of Hitchin opened it's doors to a brand new clubhouse in the summer of this year.  It also boasts a function room and they are holding Christmas Dinner and Disco Evenings in December.  Click here to view the dates and menu choices.  Mount Pleasant Disco Party Nights

Bucks Head Christmas Party Menu The Bucks Head Pub in Little Wymondley on the outskirts of Hitchin have a large conservatory which you can book for large groups or indeed just come out with a few friends to enjoy the festive season.  Run by Angela and David Dent, there is a real homely feel to this pub. They have been spending a lot of time turning the land attached to the pub into a community garden.


Blakemore House 1920's Themed Nights Blakemore House  has been newly reburbished this year into a conference and event centre.  They are running Christmas parties with a twist 1920's style! Exclusive parties available for 30 – 250 guests throughout December 2010 or Join a party. 


Christmas Menus at The Redcoats Brother and Sister Peter Butterfield and Jackie Gainsford have run The Redcoats Farmhouse Hotel since the early 1970's and it has been extended over the years to include a large conservatory and 13 rooms for guests to stay some in the courtyard and some in the main house.  They have a number of rooms for parties to dine.


Millstream Hitchin Facebook Page  and Christmas Menu The Millstream Pub is on the main route into Hitchin from Letchworth and is a large pub/restaurant with ample parking. Run by John and Jackie Pope, they hold regular events such as quiz nights, childrens parties for halloween etc. 


The Three Moorhens on Hitchin Hill is a large pub/restaurant which has recently been taken over by new manager Darren Stafford.
They recently held a 'Music in the Garden' event in conjunction with local Lions Clubs and raised over £1,000 for Keech Hospice. Festive Menu at The Three Moorhens
