Around 250 tonnes of real Christmas trees are thrown out after Christmas in the UK - please remember to recycle yours.
Place your real Christmas tree next to your brown bin for collection. Ensure all decorations, nettings, pots and stands are removed - these items do not compost so your tree will not be collected if these items remain on it.
In partnership with local garden centres, we will also be collecting real Christmas trees at the following locations (during their opening hours) until 17 January 2014:
Bickerdikes Garden Centre Norton Road, Letchworth
Tapps Garden Centre Wallington Road, Baldock
Wyevale Garden Centre Cambridge Road, Hitchin
Wyevale Garden Centre High Street, Codicote
Brown bin collections will be suspended for one collection. From 23 Dec - 28 Dec, during this time please only place out your grey mixed recycling bin and paper box for collection
