Are you dreading driving around Hitchin trying to find somewhere to park to get your Christmas shopping done? Fear no more! You can park all day for a donation of £3 at Hitchin Priory on Saturday 12th and 19th December and it's all for a good cause.
This year’s Hitchin Festival will see the trees around St. Mary’s Church decorated with a wonderful riot of colour, using wool and fibre to create a Secret Garden Yarn Installation. The local knitting group, Hitchin Stitchin have been busy knitting and crocheting decorations for the trees.
Over 300 runners have already entered for this year’s race and they come from all points of the UK – Bristol, Scarborough, Brighton and 120 from Hitchin itself. Strangely none from Scotland this year! But we do have one from New York and ex Para-Olympian Louise Simpson is entering the 10K this year. She did the half last year.
The Hitchin British Schools Trust has ambitious plans to secure the future of the British Schools Museum focussing initially on the development of the Grade 2 listed Girls’ and Infants’ School site with the aid of a substantial Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant. HBST has parallel plans to transform the Grade 2* Boys’ School through a major building project and alternative fundraising initiatives.
