Update on Heanor Gate Science College Academy Status
21st September 2011
... Comments

We recently blogged about the consultation being run by Heanor Gate Science College regarding a move to Academy Status.

The consultation ended in early September, and the school have just announced that on 13th September, the Governing Body has approved the formal application for Heanor Gate Science College to become an Academy.

The School now expects to convert to Academy Status on 1 November 2011.

The Headteacher, Mr Rob Howard, has written to all parents to assure them that the school intends to continue to offer an inclusive learning environment for students of all abilities and will continue to challenge all students to achieve their maximum potential.

Heanor Gate has certainly had a great year, with an Ofsted rating of Outstanding in the Spring Term, and the best ever exam results over the summer.  It certainly seems to be a well run school with high standards of education and expectation, coupled with a very caring and inclusive ethos. Hopefully this move to Academy Status will give them the mandate and authority to continue to drive the school forward to even bigger and even better things.

Good luck to Heanor Gate Science Academy!
