Unless you’ve been on another planet you’ll know that it’s the Queens Diamond Jubilee this weekend and there’s loads going on around our area to celebrate.
We bring you a round-up of all the events that we’ve been told about here – please drop us a line if you know of any more and we’ll be glad to add them...

All-weekend events

Beer and Cider Festival – The General Havelock, Ilkeston
With over 100 ales, ciders and perrys available to try throughout the weekend. There will also be plenty of food to soak up those well deserved beverages in the form of a hog roast on Saturday 2nd June and a barbeque on Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th June.

Mini Beer Festival and Garden Party - The Eclipse Inn, Loscoe
Sample any one of 7 real ales and 2 strong ciders all weekend plus Girls in Motion live band on the 2nd, Karaoke on the 3rd and an all day Garden Party and BBQ on the 4th. Everyone welcome all weekend.

Jubilee Week Activities – Denby Pottery
Take the kids to Denby this Bank Holiday weekend and half term for special Jubilee Craft Sessions at 11am and 2pm. including playing with clay, jubilee biscuit decoration, and paint a plate or choice of other pots. Plus Craftroom Family Tours available throughout the week. Come along in Jubilee themed Fancy Dress during this week for a chance to win prizes, and join in our festive atmosphere with other activities to celebrate the Jubilee

Saturday 2nd June

Heanor Community Fair – St Lawrence Church, Heanor 9am – 1pm
Includes a huge selection of stalls and displays from all over the Heanor Community, from cakes and cards, to plants and photos, plus lots lots more.  Come and browse Heanor’s largest selection of home based, micro and small business all available under one roof.

Heanor Development Trust Diamond Jubilee Celebration – Wilmot St - 11am – 9pm
With Competitions Hog Roast Dancing Prizes Music Beer Tent Giant Slide Climbing Wall Bouncy Castle Fun & Games Local Stalls & Crafts.

Jubilee Special Charity Event – Bulls Head, Belper 2pm - Midnight

Includes a hog roast and Jazz Band in the garden from 2pm Well filled pork rolls available until 4pm at just £2.50 (with all the trimmings). Jazz band 'Hobson’s Choice' will be playing all your favourite jazz tunes. Charity Happy hour all day plus evening entertainment from Rachel Delicata and Shirley Novak starting at 8:30pm. All money collected during the day will be donated to the Freeman Heart and Lung Transplant Association in Newcastle

Monday 4th June

Queen’s Jubilee Parade and Celebration – Marlpool, Heanor
The biggest and best Jubilee Celebration around - with a full flag-lined parade through Marlpool and Shipley featuring the High Society Military Marching Band and loads of stalls and entertainment along the way. This is one not to be missed!  The Brass Band Procession leaves All Saints at 1.50pm so come and line the streets, wave your flags and get involved to make this a day to remember

BIG Street Party - Charles Hill Sports Fields
Hosted by Heanor Town Football Club. Decorate your Table, enter the Kings and Queens Fancy Dress and join in loads of other activities. Bring your own Food and have some fun.

Diamond Jubilee BBQ - Canal Inn, Bullbridge - 1.00pm
Come and join the landlord and customers for great food and great beer 1pm onwards

RMF Beer Festival and Jubilee Celebrations - Holly Bush, Marehay - 1pm

Join the Ripley Music Festival organisers to raise money for this year's festival with a fun afternoon of Live Music, hog roast, kids games, tombola tarot readings and a beer festival.

Wirksworth Carnival - Kings Field Recreation Ground, Wirksworth - 1.00pm
Not technically a Jubilee celebration, but a great local day out - The line-up this year includes The Tigers parachute display team, The Tom Show, sword swallowing, bed of nails, the Medieval Foot Tournament, Mobile Mini Zoo, marching bands, stalls, dog show and children's rides.


Tuesday 5th June

Jubilee Party – White Lion, Marlpool – 12pm
Jubilee party in the garden 2 bands playing and bouncy castles for kids, barbeque food available.

Jubilee Garden Party – The Greyhound, Higham
Jubilee Garden party to raise money for the Help the Heroes charity. There will be stalls and games, including a tombola, feed the clown, tin-can alley, kids’ mini disco, face painting, arts and crafts. The fun starts at 11.30am

Wednesday 6th June

Jubilee Celebrations - Sir Barnes Wallis, Ripley
Join the team from the Sir Barnes Wallis for an open air street party (in the car park), with a barbeque, pony and trap rides, bouncy castle and much, much more
