Kyle Ryde and Joe Francis, two of Britain’s future World Championship contenders, will be joining a whole host of current superstars at Thundersprint 2012 which will be held in Northwich town centre over the weekend of May 12/13.

Kyle, from Jacksdale, is currently defending his 125 GP class title in the British Superbike championship as well as competing in the MotoGP Red Bull Rookies Championship in Spain – considered to be an essential first step on the way to competing in Grands Prix.

Kyle said:

“To be honest, I don’t know what to expect at the Thundersprint except that I know it will be huge. I can’t imagine what it will be like to ride in front of a crowd of 100,000 spectators and I can’t wait to find out. It’s going to be an awesome experience.”

For 14 year old Joe Francis, the Thundersprint is very much a local event being half an hour from his home in Chester. Joe said:

“The Thundersprint is a legend in our area but I never thought that I would be riding there. It’s something I never even dreamed of.

“I am just starting out on my professional riding career so I feel very humble being in the same paddock as all the great riders of the past, and the current superstars, and I can’t wait to be near all those old classic Grand Prix bikes. It’s going to be great.

“The Thundersprint will also be my first public engagement for Bennetts - one of my lead sponsors. I’m going to be spending some time on their stand along with Scott Redding and the other GP riders but I just hope that no-one recognises me!”

Thundersprint organiser, Frank Melling, said: “Kyle and Joe are the future of British World Championship racing and this is why we are so pleased to have them at the Thundersprint alongside modern superstars like Tommy Hill, Scott Redding and Danny Webb and six times World Champion Jim Redman - one of the greatest racers of all time.

“We are very proud to bring the best of British motorcycle racing talent from the past, present and future to our very own GP in a car park for what will be a truly memorable moment in motorcycle sport.”
