Our local Household Waste and Recycling Centre is located at

The site is managed by Derbyshire County Council and takes all kinds of large items that cannot fit, or should not go into your normal bin.

What you can take

  • Carpets
  • furniture,
  • plastic bottles,
  • garden waste,
  • car batteries,
  • old oil,
  • old paint,
  • wood,
  • electrical items,
  • tyres,
  • clothes,
  • cardboard,
  • rubble,
  • lightbulbs and tubes etc.

What you can't take

  • Waste from a commercial business
  • Over 50kg of rubble and soil.
  • Asbestos - more than two roofing sheets or two metres of pipe.
  • Tree trunks and branches over 150mm diameter.
  • Scrap Vehicles
  • Large items of fitted furniture.
  • More than two window frames (with or without glass) or two doors from a DIY project.


Opening times
8.30am to 6pm daily.
Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

The site can be very busy during the weekends and at bank holidays so there may be some queuing at these times.

Directions
From Ripley, take the A610 to Codnor then the A6007 to Heanor. The site is signposted approximately one mile on the left hand side.

From Heanor, take the A6007 towards Ripley. The site is signposted approximately quarter of a mile on the right hand side.
