Heanor's First Community Fair Exceeds Expectations

Today saw the launch of the first Heanor Community Fair, and it was BRILLIANT.

What a fantastic way to bring together and showcase so many great home based local cottage industry businesses, community groups other local businesses (including us), all under one roof.

The atmosphere was vibrant, with over 36 stalls ranging from photography and print, through cupcakes, plants and books, to candles and even piercing and tattoos.  There was a great sense of camaraderie with all the stall holders happily chatting away with each other and even live music playing in the background courtesy of Heanor’s very own Full House Orchestra.

As the morning went on the Fair just got busier and busier, with an ever increasing flow of visitors turning up to browse, buy from the stalls, see who was there, chat with the businesses and enter the various competitions and prize draws. It was a real cross-section of the community, with people of all ages and from all different walks of life mingling and joining together.

What was really great was to see the smiles on everyone's faces as they went around, and to see local people coming together in such a positive supportive way.  Of course, the best bit was the sound of money dropping into tins and tubs as people bought, sold and donated, making this first Fair a real success.

Organiser Jane Wells said,

“We’re so pleased with how it’s gone, its exceeded all of our expectations. This has been a massive community achievement and this is only the start of something fantastic.”

Heanor Community Fair is going to be a regular event. For details on when the next one will be held, check our events pages, or follow Love Heanor on Facebook or Twitter.
