Harry Potter is coming to Ilkeston

Today is the world premiere of the latest and (sob!) final film in the Harry Potter franchise.

Pretty much anyone with children anywhere in the developed world will have seen at least one of these amazingly successful films, or will have been pestered to buy the books for their little ones, and the series has done more to promote reading among boys than any government ever.

Not many of us will have been lucky enough to get tickets to the premieres in Trafalgar Square or Leicester Square in London, so when can we see it up here in the Forgotten Midlands?

We don't have a cinema in either Heanor or Ripley, but there are venues in Ilkeston and Belper, so you don't need to travel as far as the bigger cinemas in Nottingham and Derby to be part of this phenomenon.

Whilst the world's favourite boy wizard will not be visiting Belper until August, he will be at The Scala, in Market Place, Ilkeston from next Friday, perfectly in time for the school summer holidays...
