The Chamber scooped the prestigious Chamber of the Year Award at the British Chambers of Commerce’s annual awards for 2011. It also collected the award for Excellence in Membership Services and was shortlisted as a finalist in the Excellence in International Trade category.

The awards ceremony took place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London last night.

In the national business awards, Ashbourne-based Vital Earth finished third overall for the Sustainability Award and Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies, based near Newark, finished third in the International Trade category.

Commenting on the Chamber’s double-success, George Cowcher, Chief Executive of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber, said: “The Chamber is delighted to have won these two prestigious awards. 2010/2011 has been the Chamber’s best year ever and these awards are just the icing on the cake.

“Congratulations must go to all of the Chamber’s hard-working staff, whose efforts have led to the organisation winning these awards, under the guidance of its Board of Directors.

“Of course, the Chamber is a membership organisation and these awards are also in recognition of the ongoing support the Chamber receives from both its members and its partner organisations.

“The Chamber is the third largest in the country and is the leading voice of business in the East Midlands, so to also be officially recognised as the best in the country is fantastic.”
