Cotmanhay Enterprise Centre Closes

Thebestof Heanor and Ripley were fortunate to be invited to join the Erewash Partnership in marking the sad closure of the Cotmanhay Enterprise Centre yesterday.  Members of the Partnership, community groups, local charities and businesses from Ilkeston and the surrounding area came together for a lunchtime networking event to celebrate the many achievements of the Centre on Bennerley Avenue in Ilkeston, which has had to shut due to funding cuts.

The Centre has been a focal  point for the people of Cotmanhay for over 14 years, and has helped over 4,000 people per year to find the skills and confidence to take the next steps in their lives.

It's a shame that today's climate means that amazing places like these are having to close their doors.  People need help now more than ever to train, retrain and build up the skills and knowledge to compete in a very difficult employment market.

Here at thebestof Heanor and Ripley we are committed to improving our local area and will always support initiatives that help to make life better for our community.  We will be on the lookout for services and  initiatives that we think can help and will post the details of as many of these as we can through our events pages and in this blog.  If you know about any group or event taking place let us know about it and we can help to spread the word.

Together we can make a difference.
