Super Fast Broadband for Heanor Gate Ind Est

Thanks to a £50,000 grant secured from Derbyshire County and Amber Valley Borough Councils, Heanor Gate Industrial Estate is soon to get Super Fast Broadband.  This investment will serve to retain a number of the larger employers who were previously likely to relocate to other areas due to poor broadband speeds.  This project is the result of close workings between Cllr Kevin Parkinson and the Heanor Industrial Gate Association and helps to secure many local jobs,  By helping our larger businesses stay local and able to grow through appropriate and efficient infrastructure, and the hope is that this will also facilitate the creation of more new local jobs for Heanor.

Derbyshire Rural Broadband Investment

On a similar theme, following a Government grant of £7.3m for the Derbyshire Rural Broadband Investment the match funding needed to deliver our £14.6m every home with 1.5mb by 2015 is being secured.  We will update you as we can on news of when each area is planned for upgrade.

And finally...

Derbyshire Apprenticeships

Under the Derbyshire Apprenticeships 2012 Campaign 500 young people will be offered opportunities to train and work as a Derbyshire County Council Apprentice in the New Year.  Grants will also be provided for businesses to create a further 250 apprenticeships in the private sector.
