THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

HAVERHILL ROVERS 0   THETFORD TOWN 0

With both teams having the same points in the league this season a 0-0 draw seemed almost inevitable, neither side really carving out an opportunity that was going to break the deadlock.

The first half didn’t provide anything substantial to report, but was not the worst 45 minutes of football by any standards, Tyrone Alleyne having a shot cleared away from the Thetford goal in probably the best chance.

The closest either side came to scoring fell to Thetford ten minutes after the break, Ryan Pearson beating Sam Holmes for pace down the left wing and his low cross was read by goalkeeper Jack Cherry and he came out to the feet of half time substitute Olly Standley to stop him from scoring.

ROVERS : Cherry, Holmes, Gardner, Shinn, Farrant, Hunt, O’Brien (Sigler, 59), Elkins, Alleyne, M Abbott (Murray, 82), Stevenson. Subs not used – P Abbott, Newnes.

Man of the match : Marcus Hunt.
