Over thirty representatives from local businesses, public services and armed forces supported a week of workshops and activities for the year 12 students of Samuel Ward Academy. The Challenge of Management makes the students aware of the skills necessary to be a good manager and also the challenges surrounding the work of a manager.
The week was introduced at Chilford Hall, giving the students an impressive first taste of a conference environment. The students then spent two days work shadowing a manager in the workplace and a day brushing up their presentation skills. The culmination was held at Ardex UK Ltd, where small groups of students presented their experiences of the week to a panel of employers.
Employers were overwhelmingly impressed by the quality of the students and their involvement in each activity. ‘What a super group of young men and ladies shortly to be released into the world of university and the workplace’ was one comment.
