Aiden Thomas is a beautiful, happy little boy who has Cerebral Palsy.
Born ten weeks early in January 2010, he and his twin brother Owen spent eight weeks in Intensive and Special Care. During a routine appointment in March 2011, Aiden was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy – specifically Bilateral Spastic Hemiplegia, which means that Aiden has stiffness in his right arm and leg, and to a lesser extent, his left leg.
Aiden’s mum, Vicky carries out physio everyday, but Aiden is unsteady and not very mobile, which means that he can’t play with his twin or friends as much as he’d like.
However, there is an operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizoplasty, which will give Aiden the opportunity to walk independently and enjoy a better quality of life with his family and friends. The operation is not routinely carried out in the UK, so Aiden’s family need to raise £40,000 to be able to take Aiden to St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri, US.
With the hard work of Aiden’s loved ones and unbridled generosity of people in and around Haverhill, the family’s charity, Aiden’s Footsteps has already raised in excess of £26,000.
However, they need your help to raise the last £14,000 needed to change Aiden’s life forever. Aiden’s Footsteps has been organising a variety of local fundraising events, and they are currently planning a Charity Golf Day at Haverhill Golf Club on March 20th 2012.
If you are a local company with a heart of gold, please get in touch with Aiden’s Footsteps via email to ‘sponsor’ a hole for a minimum of £50. In return, you will get your company information displayed at the Charity Golf Day and all golfers participating in the event will be given details about your business.
Aiden’s Footsteps is also looking for Haverhill residents and businesses to donate prizes for the event’s auction.
Please email the local charity and get involved – you will be changing a beautiful little boy’s life for the better – forever.
