A new fundraising initiative has been launched by Jenni Donno from Social Media Success and Elaine Carr from thebestof Haverhill – Peel2Save.

After a successful pilot scheme in Solihull, the Peel2Save fundraising card was launched nationally in June and is a simple, no-risk way for local charities, schools, youth and community groups and other, non-profit organisations in the area to raise money.

A Peel2Save is the same size as a credit card and fits neatly into your purse or wallet. It contains 64 individual peel-off coupons that promote a special offer from a wide range of reputable businesses.

The card is sold for just £10 by charities and local not-for-profit groups, which keep £5 from every card sold.

Peel2Save cards have been available to Haverhill residents from August 1st and are valid for 12 months. The first card contains fantastic offers from 29 local companies, including:

  • 20% off your food on the main menu at Frankie & Benny’s
  • Free ‘Wet and Wild’ session at Haverhill Leisure Centre
  • Buy any size pizza and get another free from Papillon Pizza
  • 20% off takeaways from the Raj Mahal Indian restaurant

In total, the value of the offers are about £300 – not a bad return for a £10 investment!

Jenni Donno explains, “It’s really exciting to be involved with Peel2Save. It is so difficult for charities and good causes to access funds in these challenging economic times. Peel2Save provides a great opportunity for them to raise money quickly and easily, with no risk.  If they sell just 100 cards they will have raised £500 and selling 1000 cards would give them £5000 – which would make quite an impact on anyone’s fundraising target.”

The Peel2Save initiative hopes to raise approximately £2.5 million nationally on behalf of charities and good causes in the next year.

Helping Local Charities

Any not-for-profit group or organisation can sell Peel2Save cards in order to raise money for their cause. They are not required to pay any monies upfront, there is no minimum order and any unsold, undamaged cards can be returned.

Elaine Carr from thebestof Haverhill explains, “Peel2Save is a fantastic idea, it has been working very well in the USA for many years.  It’s a real community initiative, giving local businesses the opportunity to promote their businesses to local people.  The offers have real value and broad appeal, there is something for everyone.  Anyone who spends £10 on a card will soon recoup their money and will have also raised £5 for a charity or good cause. It’s a definite win-win for local businesses, charities and good causes and local consumers.”
