A new retail park in Haverhill will create around 250 new jobs.
Plans to turn a derelict factory site at Hamlet Green into a new retail park have been approved.
HPG Development submitted plans to St Edmundsbury Council's development control committee to transform the site, which has remained empty since the beginning of 2007, and those plans have now been given approval.
The developer will be turning the site into 9 warehouses, 11 business start up units, 3 retail units for bulky goods, a Wickes builders merchants and a MacDonalds drive-thru, along with the possibility of over 250 new jobs.
There had been initial fears that the development would have a detrimental effect on retailers in the town centre; however as the new retail units can only be occupied by companies selling bulky items, these fears have been allayed and plans have been approved.
