The St Nicholas Hospice Care shop, in Haverhill High Street, has become a bargain hunter’s heaven.

The store has been transformed into a discount outlet, which aims to sell quality goods at a discount price.

Now, most items for sale in the shop will not break the bank, with prices ranging from just 50p to a bargain £5.

Manager Karen Beale said the initiative would run for a four-month trial with a view to continuing, but the initial response from customers had been really positive.

“Shoppers will have to keep checking regularly for bargains, because we have a one-week stock turnover,” she said.

“We will still be stocking the same mix of clothes, bric a brac and books as before, just at discount prices.”

The shop is open from 9.30am-4.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9.30am-1pm on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the shop desperately needs more volunteers. Roles can involve serving customers, sorting through donations and window dressing.

“Are you interested in fashion or have you worked with a till before? Or would you enjoy helping us to sort through donations? If so, we would love to hear from you – we need help with every aspect of the shop,” added Karen.

If you think you could volunteer, please contact Karen or Rachel Minns on 01440 712992, or pop into the shop during opening hours.
