WASH Sailability is a charity that is supported by members of the sailing community all over the world, with sailing enthusiasts providing facilities for disabled people so that they can enjoy the experience of being sailed or sail a boat themselves.

Its Annual General Meeting takes place on Saturday 19th November 2011, from 11am at the SESCA Sailing Club on Lackford Lakes. Everyone is invited to attend, with the aim of showing people what the charity has achieved and giving members and guests the opportunity to raise issues, let WASH Sailability know what you think it does well and what it can improve for the future.

The AGM is also the perfect opportunity to network with SESCA Sailing Club members, volunteer members and committee members and see Lackford Lakes' facilities.

There will be a buffet lunch at 12:30pm for all attendees.

To book your place at WASH Sailability’s forthcoming AGM, please contact Mick Smith. Please note that as refreshments and a buffet lunch are being provided, if you book a place and are then unable to attend, you must inform Mick by midday on November 11th.

Are you, or do you know of someone, who is interested in becoming a member of WASH Sailability’s committee?

The Haverhill charity is currently looking for enthusiastic, dedicated individuals who would like to make a difference to disabled people.

As Chairman, Mick Smith explains, "The volunteers do not necessarily have to be experienced sailors, but they do have to have a wish to help others; to make a person with disabilities feel they are an equal part of our community, no matter what difficulties life has thrown at them."

The various posts that are currently up for election are:

  • Chair – responsible for leading the group and chairing all meetings
  • Vice-Chair – responsible for covering Chair in their absence
  • Secretary – responsible for all communications and grant applications
