LMK Thermosafe Ltd, a family run business in Haverhill, has been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade 2012.

The Awards are made annually by the Queen on the advice of Prime Minister, David Cameron, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee, including representatives of Government, industry and commerce, as well as the trade unions.

Across the UK, only 151 companies have won the Award, with 17 based in the East of England.

Managing Director, Mark Newton, comments, “This Award recognises many years of hard work by our talented and dedicated staff. Any export business is hard won, and our continuing growth in every continent is particularly due to the efficient and high quality technical support given to our overseas customers and marketing partners.

"In most countries there are strong local competitors, so although a small business, we succeed by offering a better total package of customer service, support and product availability. We have responded to international market needs and developed new products that meet the technical standards and certifications required for those markets."

"As a family owned business, it is particularly pleasing to have been contributing in a small way to the resurgence of UK manufacturing exports, and to be safeguarding employment for our staff even in tough economic times.”

LMK Thermosafe Ltd is a world leader in the manufacture of industrial and drum and container heaters, which are used in potentially explosive atmospheres. Based on Moonhall Business Park on Helions Bumpstead Road in Haverhill, the family business has seen its export earnings increase by 85% in the last three years, exporting to over 60 countries across the world.
